I built my computer from scratch like a year ago. I wish I had pictures, but I don't. It's pretty sweet, and gets the job done, so I'm happy with it :)

I had a double (triple if you count an external) hdd failure in one week.

So I dragged out an old dell with a p4, 256mb of ddr, and a 30gb hdd. It is a BEAST!!. Doesn't matter to much right now, I am busy all the time.

ok im confused... You people BUILT your computers from SCRATCH?? So you made your own buttons, keyboards, screens, and built your own memory and motherboards out of little pieces of metal???? And found a way to make pictures move on the screen you put together yourself out of... plastic?? and... Found a way to get an internet connection out of the scraps you put together, and punched in holes to stick the cord for the power outlet in?? And connected your own wires because you knew where to put them??? WHAAAT?!?!??!?!?

No, you buy the individual peieces of hardware, like motherboard, processor, video card, case, power supply, etc. and then put it all together yourself. That's also what I've done.

No, we bought the parts, either online, or at stores, then assembled it. Assembling it only takes about an hour anyways and (for me at least) made it about 500 to 1000 $ cheaper than buying it whole from somthing like Dell or AlienWare.

Yeah man, I have my own fabrication facility where I fabricated my AMD processor, my GPU chip and all of my other semi conductors.
I also own a bunch of factories that create plastic to use in the keyboards and what not. The high price of oil lately is hurting the factories though.
Also, negotating with all of the companies like AMD, Nvidia, logitech to get the rights to fabricate the materials and the methods was a pain in the butt. I tell ya.

Well it started off as a Compaq S5000T but its not much of that anymore, aside from that it has the original install of windows still. The only original parts are the motherboard, processor and hard drive.
