1994 was a good year for movies.
Forrest Gump won the award for best picture. i personally think Shawshank should have won. But you cant argue, its a toss up between these 3 top dogs. which was your favorite?

They are all equal IMO... for different reasons.
There are also a lot of other great movies from 1994 - Lion King (a rip off btw), True Lies, The Mask, Ace Ventura, Clear and Present Danger...
It's a battle between 1999 and 1994 for the best year in movies. Maybe 77 too.
I personally think Forrest Gump, over Shawshank Redemption. Pulp Fiction...I'm gonna cop some **** for this but I didn't actually enjoy it.
Shawshank Redemption without a question. However I did enjoy Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump a lot too.
Pulp Fiction, easily. It's one of the best films ever made, and one of the best screenplays ever written.
I hope no one is offended by what I am going to say, but most people simply don't get this movie. Everyone still loves it anyway, but most people think its just fun nonsense dialogue and pop culture references, but its so much more than that. The perfect example is the hamburger conversation. It means so much in the context of the whole movie. It's not just funny small talk dialogue as most people think.

Nooooo! The cows! The cows!
I would go with the finish up to the Three Colors trilogy.

I really need to re-watch that trilogy again... its been a long time since I last saw them.
a good action movie. but not worthy of a Oscar for best picture like those 3 masterpieces. imoWhat about True Lies? That was all kinds of awesome.

Tarantino has a knack for amazing dialogue sequences. On topic, I'll go with Pulp Fiction as well. Shawshank was awesome too. Forrest Gump was okay. :PPlease Log In to post.
