What was the most irritating thing your parents said to you when you were a kid?

For me it was my Dad.

Every single time I came up with a valid argument, he'd throw out a line that always got my goat: "Do as I say, not as I do.":P:lol:

My mom always tried to convince me that I was mentally unstable, with no provocation at all, with arguments like "It runs in the family" and "I am, so you are too." For a while I believed it, I swallowed anti depressants all the time, routinely saw different counselors for 9 years, all of whom said they couldn't help me because they saw nothing wrong with me. To this day, my mom still tries to push it on me.

Me: Can I have something for lunch?

Parents: Sure, make me something while you're at it.

Me: :|

My mom still does it today but anytime I don't listen to her she will go "THis is my house I make the rules not you!" constantly.

Me: Will you buy me this game?

Mom: Mmm... I'll think about it ;)

Me: :evil:

Me: Mom can we go to Chuck E. Cheese?

Mom: Some other time, I can't today.

Me: But you said that last ti-

Mom: Stop it, Chuck E. Cheese isn't going anywhere.

Dad: 'Jesus! Get out! Next time knock! I said get out!'

Me: Oh my gosh :|

"eat your stewed tomatoes before you leave the table" ......yuck!

Me: Can I have something for lunch?

Parents: Sure, make me something while you're at it.

people are posting the little stuff, but we all know this line is the one line that was used by our parents maybe only once "i'm not angry with you, I'm just disappointed" that just hurts so much more when it's said.

"Time to Wrap It Up", "Put the Nintendo (Xbox 360) Away", there are more but I forgot them at the moment :P

When I watched any movie that wasn't romantic (what kinda kid likes that ****?).

Mom: "And you tell me video games don't affect you."

Me::shock:

"I'm in charge, not you" "what I say goes" "You'll do exactly what I say" etc...

I got so sick of hearing that **** from my dad. :x

Dad: "Yes"

Me: "Where?"

"Because I said so" Dear lawd that phrase is obnoxious...

When ever I come up with a good arguement:
"Shut up"
"Can Politicians say shut up when they are losing an arguement?"
"Smart people know when to shut up and obey, so shut up!!!"
"Did Ghandi defeat the Britishby shutting up and obeying?"
"SHUT THE **** UP!!!"

Whenever I go out I go through the routine: Who are you going to be with? Where does he live? What will you be doing? When will you be home?cpo335

I agree, that stung the most and it would have been easier if they just straight up yell in our faces.

And when you argue or ask for something, they'll go "well back in my days we didnt' get to do that or get this" and go on about their lives. I do get where they're coming from, but it just gets a little annoying sometimes.

Whenever I'd get stubborn they'd say "What would Jesus think of you?"

I never had a damn answer. :x
