I was thinking the same thing last week, then realized how sad it was that I actually would rather have my brain plugged into the internet than take an ofline bathroom break.

Evolution is an innately non-deterministic process, so its products are fairly impossible to predict. On the other hand, things that won't happen are pretty easy to predict, like exploding brains or developing without skin.

This is a very good point, actually. I think that our ability to modify our own genetic material is a much more likely means to influence human development. Being able to selectively introduce traits that will be born into offspring seems a lot more plausible than electromechanical augments that would require various surgical and/or nanotech techniques to apply.
