I think that it will spark World War 3.. What do you think?

World War 3? I doubt that any use of nuclear weapons by North Korea would likely be aimed at civilian populations, most likely in South Korea or Japan and if they did do such a thing China wouldn't back North Korea. I doubt there would be any kind of invasion after the event most likely would be a tactical nuclear strike on military bases and suspected missile sites.
The only way North Korea would do such a thing if they gave China a good enough reason for the Chinese to support them but even then it would be China and North Korea vs at least NATO. NATO though weaker than it was still is the only formidable military alliance on earth and would easily render them both incapable of projecting military power in the forseeable future.
No If North Korea sends out a nuke, it will NOT start a world war, simply because North Korea stands alone, China doessnt back it, Russia is just about as outraged as the US (partly do to thier VERY poor relations with North Korea). I pretty much think that either China will see it as an opputunity to gain land (take over north Korea with force) or a mixed nations force, will be sent in to overthrow the country, and replace the goverment with a patchwork force fitting to the different ideologies working to overthrow the goverment.
I mean, tossibly the only ones whou might consider siding with North Korea, are either allready engaged in war, or civil war, or they are too broken down to do much, if anything at all.
I agree, world war 3 will most likely happen..which is what I was afraid of :(cousin_eddySame here...

North Korea will not go down as easy as you try to make it out to sound even if they dont have allies.

If they attacked another country with a nuke NK will probably get a 'gift' of afew nukes by the US, UK, maybe even China and Russia too. A ground war in Korea would be bad, but if Pyongyang is crazy enough to use a nuke a ground war would not be needed.
North Korea would cease to exist. I highly doubt that it would start WWIII. NK has no allies of consequense and then have very little military might outside of the potential for nukes. China would probably obliterate them in a matter of days and that would be the end of that.
The entire world will focus all their attention on North Korea. Information of various secret programs will be released to the public via action against NK. The smurfs will come out of hiding join us in our endevors to rid this planet of one Kim Il Jong.

It would not start World War 3, but the military of N. Korea is fairly strong and fighting them in Korea would be bad. But if they used a nuke the North part of Korea would cease to exist.
Sanction, sanction and more sanction.TreflisNot even close. If NK ever used a nuke on another country they would get destroyed...no question about it. As far as it causing WW3...I doubt it. They don't have enough allies for this...and if they did such a horrendous act I doubt anybody would stand next to them anyways.
People need to realize that N. Korea is an extremely small country. I mean they are speck on the map. If they posed any real threat, we could have them obliterated, completely wiped off the map before lunch time that day if we wanted. There will be no WWIII. Not in our lifetime.

Because they don't have allies. They have limited contact with China and Russia but it's very unlikely either of states would attack the US or a UN led forces.
For clarification, because I've seen it on this board multiple times, China will not support NK because "they are both communist." China moved away from the revolutionary stage when Mao died. Their main focus is building up it's economy and trading with foreign countries, not "protecting North Korea for Western imperialism." If any opposition to an assaulted were voiced from China I'd think it's have more to do with the fact that they'd have a war right on their boarder and a potential humanitarian crisis on their hands.
Furthermore, I don't see how anyone would think NK would mount an effective resistence. They have a massive energy shortage in the country, their equipment is Cold War vintage and it's questionable how well trained their personal is and how loyal they'll be when it actually comes do to combat.

Korea has a ton of moutains, that would greatly help the North Koreans. They may have old equipment, but they have a large army that is well trained and they have a cult of personaty around their great leader, so they would put up a fight. Even if nuclear weapons are not used the casualties will be high. Probably well over a million during the first parts when the city of Seoul will get shelled by North Korea.

If NK attacked an ally, we wouldn't be in their turf. We would just nuke them to oblivion. The South has moutains too, also we would use nuclear weapons only if the North uses them, we would not use them right off the bat. If nuclear weapons are not used it would last much longer than an afternoon.
and the radiation fallout would completely decimate both countries. That's why you don't completely use nukes. Nuke the northern end and just bomb the rest of the way down with something else.[QUOTE="Pirate700"]

It depends on the situation. If we are in a REAL war, not a simple sweep like in Iraq, we wouldn't waste any time using foot soldiers. It depends on the situation. If we are in a REAL war, not a simple sweep like in Iraq, we wouldn't waste any time using foot soldiers.[QUOTE="Chaos_HL21"]

First Iraq was a "real" war, Second we don't use nuclear weapons so freely, only as a last resort.

You need to realize North Korea is not just some wimpy nation. They have a force that is capable of killing lots and lots of people.

Wars like Iraq were not so much about defense. We were in no danger from them militarily. I mean real as in WWII where someone is threatening to annihilate or completely take over another nation. If N. Korea tries to take out S. Korea or Japan or the like, that is a totally different type of war.It depends on the situation. If we are in a REAL war, not a simple sweep like in Iraq, we wouldn't waste any time using foot soldiers.[QUOTE="Pirate700"]

Iraq's military was pitiful...we pretty much destroyed their military in a week. It would not be anywhere as easy with NK.Korea has a ton of moutains, that would greatly help the North Koreans. They may have old equipment, but they have a large army that is well trained and they have a cult of personaty around their great leader, so they would put up a fight. So they can shell the South, what then? They can't protect their airspace , their land forces will be knocked out and their artillery sites will be found and neutralized.
NK will not benefit in anyway, shape or from launching an attack. They can claim that have a million man army, that they have guns pointed towards the South and denote all the nuclear bombs they want but I highly doubt they can compete on the new age battlefield.
What's odd is N. Korea really has nothing to defend. They don't provide anything to anyone. They are a small, insignificant country that is completely isolationist. They only have two industries also. Military and farming. Who do they think would want to attack them? It's like installing anti-error missiles in you backyard just to defend your house. It's overkill for such insignificance.

Did I say it would be like dealing with NK, no. But the soilders getting killedover there it is a real war.

They will lose, but not without a major fight. I am in no way saying that NK could stand a chance at winning. But it will be a very bloody war.
Again, if they posed and REAL threat to another ally nation or especially ourselves, it would mainly be bloody on there end because we wouldn't be sending in many ground troops. They will lose, but not without a major fight. well for a start that wont be nice
and secondly the DPRK may have the 5th largest army in the world but still, the situation can be contained unless it had an ally
thirdly they dont have a long range nuclear missiles
S. Korea has been terrified for ages. They have always been a target of N. Korea to take over. Just like Japan from China.I know but they are more so now. Aparently their president isn't a very nice person either since he may have hired a hitman to take otu the runners up.[QUOTE="BumFluff122"]
I'm talkign to a guy from south korea right now in that chat thing and they are terrified.

This would be nothing like Iraq. It would be bloody on all sides, but the civilians will probably be hit the hardest.
