The definitions of hell and paradise here are of those found in abrahamic religions.

I really dont know, it's a very difficult question when I think about it. I guess I'll go with option 1 as I am just too afraid of physical suffering.

Definitely the latter. I'm not religious but still the thought of nothingness makes me feel uneasy.

Nothingness would be boring, so I choose the 2nd option.

The first choice. I don't want anything. The idea of being trapped somewhere, even if it's nice, absolutely terrifies me.

What defines nothingness though? How do we know that we don't exist?

I like the idea of my lifeforce or whatever returning to the cosmos as energy much more than the prospect of being jabbed up the *** with a pitchfork for all eternity.

You will never know, you will just cease to exist after death...

It was just a question like if you were given such an option in your life then what will you do.

An eternity of nothingness. I'd rather cease to exist in nothing and have no worries about absolutely anything.

But we don't know what "not existing" is like. Is it just blackness?

If I had to chose, I'd try both just to see what "not existing" would be like ;)

Idk but this makes me think of being stuck in a big white room with nothing in it and being alone.

Months of hell? Surely the intervals of time could be narrowed during that period, making my time there feel like an eternity? Either straight to paradise or nothing, for me.

I think I could stand a few months hanging out in hell before packing my bags and heading off to paradise.

Option 2. According to all the online tests i've taken i'ld be punished very little or maybe not punished at call and just hang out with scientists and philosophers. Also there's no sadness or sickness in heaven and according to Islam i get consorts which are 100x better than any earthly pleasure. Though with both options it would be lonely for a while, it would be great if i could bring some friends with me.

You can lookat it as a ratio though

2 months / eternity = 0% of your time is spent in hell

I don't think I'll have anything at all, so it wouldn't really matter. I can live with the idea of dying without an afterlife.

I'm gonna go with nothingness. There's nothing to complain about because you're not there to complain. Plus, I don't want to keep thinking.

Neither nothingness, months in hell, nor an eternity in so called paradise. I want to live my dream, nothing more. If that is granted after death, I more than welcome it.

I'm not entirely sure why one would want to go to heaven in the first place. If I stay the same as I am now as a go to heaven, then I would merely be engaging in earthly things for all eternity. Any action, ad naeseum, is bound to get boring. If I am granted heavenly capacities and somehow am able to achieve a higher plain of understanding, that me then isn't the me now. I have no incentive as the me I am now to wish for that, because what I would no longer be me. If I am absolved into godly glory, the same applies there. The me as I am now would not want heaven.

I don't know. Eternal paradise sounds nice and swell, but wouldn't it get boring after a while? What is there to look forward to? Seems rather dull.

The eternity of nothingness isn't as bad as it sounds. You're not conscious during that time. So you don't even know you're dead. Besides, that "couple of month" concept it kinda sketchy...There is a big three-headed dog preventing this exact thing....

I think eternity is an extremly unrealistic and scary consept. People who say they'd enjoy it haven't really thougt it through. I'd like to die just like a lamp dies when you pull the plug.

If the second choice were possible, then my greatest objection to the Abrahamic God would be resolved, and I'd choose the second option. It would mean that God really does forgive, and the punishment would be corrective in nature as opposed to purely spiteful and punitive. Existence is nice - but not if you're being tortured. Given the choice between nothingness and eternal torture, the decision is obvious.

Ya I have thought about those things alot and paradise has practically never made sense to me.

Like the quran or bible(not sure which one) says that in paradise your past sorrow will be removed from your hearts. That there is not me anymore if it happens and your point stands. But anyways this is just a fantasy topic, it isnt really about the actual possibility of such situations.

Btw earthy pleasures are not going to become boring as long as there will be some way of discovering new stuff like in this world we have advancements in technology, new challenges in games, sports etc.
