I recently went through an identity theft situation which was a big huge mess, and i'm wondering whats an AMAZING security software to buy that i can use on my PC. currently i just use the AVG free version. Id like something that keeps me safe from viruses etc..

currently using: AVG free/ No Script on web browsing / maleware bytes for occasional scans..

anyone have any good reccommendations.. i was thinking purchasing AVG but there's 2 versions of it.. and i dont want to pay for 2 different things, theres like Avg Anti virus, and AVG internet security....

helps?

norton is great but it is also extremely annoying imo it installs all this extra stuff you dont want, like its own toolbar and it makes your search engine results have a nortan certified logo that makes it look ugly also, whenever im playing pc games in full screen, it decides to start scanning for viruses right when im playing, causing me major lag

ESET or Kaspersky if you don't mind paying yearly. Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast if you want freeware.

nortan doesnt let you permanently turn off features, so when i want to turn nortan off, you get an "Are you sure?" and than after that you still cant turn it off completely, they instead give you a slider of how long you want to turn off norton, with the maximum being 1 hour tl:dr norton wont let you turn stuff off completely, only for about half an hour at a time, after which it automatically turns the feature back on... which is extremely annoying because you cant stop that from happening

I've been using Avast! for 4 years now and have nothing bad to say about it. Best of all, it's free!

Avast kept giving me BSOD... I'm not joking either, never had it before until it was installed - uninstalled it and no errors since.
