My friend said that it happens to him 3 times per month, and he has to see a doctor.
I want to experience it to see why it is so bad, becaues he said that it is the most terrifying thing to happen to him.

Sleep Paralysis is one of the things I am very glad I don't have, but being a very curious person, I would want to experience it just once to know what it feels like, no matter how bad it may be.

Excactly! I love finding new ways to scare myself.
I would love to have sleep paralysis to scare me.

I've had it. Imagine waking up completely certain that there was somebody in your house, or even your room, and you can't move or do anything about it. That's how frightening it is.

You're just making me want to have it even more!
I've heard that pinning yourself under your sheets can cause it in some people.

Thats true, when it occured for me i felt like something was in the room with me and that it was evil, it is a scary feelingIt was once believed that sleep paralysis was when somebody was visited by demons. The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli depicts this.
I was once believed that sleep paralysis was when somebody was visited by demons. The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli depicts thisTheokhothsome people in other country's believe it's caused by a ghost sitting on your chest while you're sleeping. The first time sleep paralysis happens it's really terrifying but once you have it again it's not so bad
Never had it, but also curious about it. I wonder if it can happen if you are waked up by the alarm clock, incredible late for work and you go like " ****!! I'm late for work! Honey, could you dress me up please? Oh wait, I cant talk either!"
However, it does sound like it chooses bad timing, so no funny moments :(
I spoke to someone who experienced sleep paralysis. They said they couldn't describe howbad the fear was but it was the single most terrifying point of their life. It's most likely linked with a human's natural need to have control over things and when you lose control over something as basic as the ability to move your body then you go into a panic, a panic you can't do anything about because they're paralysed and so the whole thing spirals around in a cycle. I hope it's something I never have to experience.
Anyway. I've had sleep paralysis several times. Once, I had an old lady hovering above me whilst I hallicunated that I had sheet wraps covering me down. I couldn't move, and half my face was sunk to the side of the bed. It caused breathing problems and I couldn't move. The face kept creeping towards me from the side and that's when I regained control RIGHT when she was about in front of me and I instantly pulled over the covers. I came out about 5 minutes later and nothing was there.
Turned on my light, and stayed up since 3 that time.
That was just one of them.
You don't want sleep paralysis....aka night terrors

Is kinda like it. Check out the related videos too. You usually see figures or things coming at you, unable to move.
Isn't it normal if you are woken up from REM sleep to be paralysed?clembo1990not sure maybe that's true but sleep paralysis can paralyze the body from about 7 seconds to about 2 minutes depending on your case. mine lasted about 26 seconds until I could fully move

I've never been more scared in my entire life. My bouts of it have left me with mental images I will never forget.
Imagine the most horrifying thing that has ever happened to you, SP is scarier than that.

Does thinking you're going to die give you joy?[QUOTE="kingkui"][QUOTE="fiscope"]

I don't know what to tell you then- it sucks you don't have sleep paralysis!During one of the bouts of SP:
There was a person standing beside my bed but it was too dark to see. Then, I saw these faces on the wall and they started to elongate like they were screaming and then more started to appear until they flooded the whole room. Then the room went darker and I was pulled off of my bed and then I could feel somehing slithering around under my bed in the darkness I tried to scream but couldn't.
I don't know why you would want to experience it. You go to bed the previous night, able to walk and move, running around and swimming with friends. Then when you wake up, it is all gone. You can open your eyes and look around, but cannot move for the life of you. You try and try but soon come to learn that you will be like this for the rest of your life. Horror rushes throughout your body and your heart starts beating profusely, with the feeling that it's going to explode out of your chest. You try to scream for help but can't. You feel you will be stuck there until someone discovers you, hoping that sometime soon a loved one will burst in through the doors to save you. Of course that may be a slight exaggeration of what happens and it normally goes away. Still, I imagine it is horrifying. Ghost_702
Not scary enough.
I want bloody walls, demon childs, serial killer clowns!
this whole threads has Practically brought me down to tears, someone very close to me has been paralytic for the past 4 years or so, in other words every single day is an endless nightmare to her? I im truly devastated by the mere thoughtTheOldOlder
I am extremely sorry to hear that.
But if you knew it was coming wouldn't you be prepared for it?
I'm still not convinced that the people in this thread who say they want to experience the most terrifying thing they can would actually feel so positive when faced with the prospect of imminent death or their worst fears.
Gamer_152
I'm not what you'd call "normal."
People thing laughing is the best cure. I think being scared out of your mind (in this thread literally :D) is the best cure.

You wont get that. True fear isn't some comic book cliche. A raw manifestation of fear is much different. There is a big difference between watching a scary movie and being in one.[QUOTE="clembo1990"]Isn't it normal if you are woken up from REM sleep to be paralysed?andyboiiinot sure maybe that's true but sleep paralysis can paralyze the body from about 7 seconds to about 2 minutes depending on your case. mine lasted about 26 seconds until I could fully move I wouldn't know, I'm a student so I take prolonged lie-ins
