I'm not really looking for brand names. I'd just like to now how you would judge the best cereal on measurable merit. My friend and I are developing a taco-flavored cereal. The lettuce would be rice crisps, the tomatoes would be candied marshmallows but another question is how could we package ground beef with it? A simple air-sealed package wouldn't work (we tried). Would freeze-drying work on the shelf? Aren't there dinner-boxes with pre-packaged ground beef in them?iusm78
No offence, but that just sounds like heart problems in a bowl.

Well there are certainly products out there that are bad for your health. Ours wouldn't be any worse than a meal at Long John's Silver. Besides we're not marketing it as a health conscious choice. It'll be part of a upcoming chain of faux-foods. Someone else is developing fruit that is made out of deli-meat (grapes = beef tenderloin, oranges = chicken breasts, etc.) THe only problem is the flavoring in ours. We know that the marshmallows will have a sweet flavor but the rest of the toppings we want to have a savory component. The ground beef will certainly have a chipotle hint to it.

That doesn't matter, the problem is that it SOUNDS like heart problems in a bowl. Entree flavored cerial would never sell. People come to cerial for entirely different reasons than why they come to tacos.
WTH???
Come on people!!!
Fruity Pebbles........nothing like having multicolored you-know-what.
And PB Cap'n Crunch is a close second.
But yeah, I could eat a box of Fruity Pebbles in one sitting.

That is a little short sighted don't you think? Besides that is the point of making this. It's a new niche. I certainly wouldn't pump money into making a Special K type of cereal since that market is pretty much saturated. Our early trials have shown that (Americans especially) are more and more moving away from a "traditional" breakfast. Also, this would be marketed more to the snack area. Our hope is that since within the "cereal isle" our product will really stand out as a novel product.

I totally disagree.

Enjoy your cereal, you'll have plenty of its sub-par bitterness where you're going...
I recommend a cereal that has more nutrition in the contents than in the cardboard box it comes in, which rules out most General Mills, Post, and Kellogs products. Promise me you won't be another victim of ignorant commercialism;)
Try a granola or a muesli, or a Kashi product.
