I would say club music is the best

I bet your family is proud of you.It really is subjective. What one person likes, someone else may detest completely.

Country.
Great sound, great singers, great lyrics, awesome to listen to while driving.
And banging your cousins.[QUOTE="WhiteKnight77"]I bet your family is proud of you.It really is subjective. What one person likes, someone else may detest completely.

In the aspect of what the OP asked, it is true. I think rock is the best and think rap is the worst, but that is my opinion and of course, opinions are subjective.

Granted there is an error in expression on the part of the TC, but it is flagrantly obvious what he wanted out of the responses (i.e. a subjective answer; not a trite platitude on how art isn't objective). All forms of Rock n Roll, from sock hop to death metal. There are bands and performers I love in all parts of the spectrum. Second_RookI agree, although I don't know what sock pop is....
I have a list of genres that I find amazing:
Heavy Metal
Thrash Metal
Progressive Metal
Melodic Death Metal
Nu Metal
Alternative Metal
Doom Metal
Hardcore Punk
-----------------------------
Now for the other genres apart from metal:
Rock
Hard Rock
Alt Rock
Grunge
Electronica
Electronic Rock
Folk
I would say progressive/technical death metal is the best.CRS98\
There is, it's METAL!Implying there is a "best genre".

you cant kill the metal........
Switchfoot are dull. If you like rock listen to Radiohead or Pearl Jam.Rock. More specifically, bands such as this one
J-man45
Noise is the only answer.aaronmullanThere's actually a music genre called noise? God, sounds horrible!
Wouldn't this be really subjective?
That said, if you put all sub-genres of "Rock" under Rock, including alternative & punk and metal, I might have to go with that, because of the variations between minimilism and complexity, slow and fast tempos, and mixes with other genres such as folk and blues.
And then other strong ones, depending on if you're rating this under complexity or history, cIassical, blues, jazz, etc. would be notable.
Progressive rock.Guppy507You know good music. Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes and Rush are my favorite Prog rock bands. Dream Theater's my favorite Prog Metal band. How about you?

How about you? I'm more into the prog revival stuff. Porcupine Tree are my favorite band. Riverside, Frost*, Pineapple Thief, and Anekdoten are all great as well.
As for progressive metal, I like Opeth, Edge of Sanity, Cynic, Nevermore, Disillusion, and stuff like that.
There is no such thing as best Genre of Music, that is very subjective.
There is only Good and Bad Music and that is also subjective to the listenners personal opinion.
I have listened to music over Genres i didnt think i would like and ended up liking it.
I used to listen to Eminem and mostly Hipop at a point, then Evanescence came along, then Nickelback,Dolly Patron,Pavoratti. You see the pattern

How is it metal?
Nobody outside of the people who are fans of it seem to take it seriously, though there are a few bands (that can easily fall under classic rock) that are relatively important.
