One of my favorite movies is The Patriot. Also Braveheart is a very good movie if you consider it a war movie, and I also love We Were Soldiers.
The Patriot, Braveheart, The Messenger, Toro! Toro! Toro!, Patton, Black Hawk Down, Enemy at The Gates, and The Last Samurai
Apart from the opening I didn't like that one very much.I think Enemy At The Gates is a top contender.

rachel weizz is in it and you get to see her butt.
I definitely like it.
I wouldn't even say Saving Private Ryan is the best war film. The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Great Escape, and The Grave of the Fireflies are high up on my list. However, I'm currently watching Band of Brothers (on the fourth episode) and, in terms of realism, it's fantastic.sammyjenkis898I love BoB as well, though after reading the book, it's weird to see how much stuff they left out, and how much the different events were mixed around.
Saving Private Ryan isn't even the best war movie...Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket are much better, for example. JML897Full Metal Jacket and Platoon, and Apocalypse Now ;)

I'm sure I'd agree with you, but I've never seen Platoon. :(

im watching that movie right now actually bravehearts pretty goodawesomeray
You're watching it on TNT like me aren't you. :P
Hey! I was watching that today on TV. (TNT or something with a T). I would say Black Hawk Down. I didnt like the movie, but i think it accuratly depicts what i think war is like. Also, it makes it look like 100 people have died, and then you find out at the end the 17 people died. I thought that part was exxagerated.bronxxbombersBHD is awesome. But no, people hear 17 in their head and picture a far smaller number of people than it actually is. 17 is a lot of people. It definetly did not seem like a hundred. Watch it again and count. Also, although not really a war movie, Children of Men has the best war scene ever. Even better than BHD.
Most war movies I've seen are better than Saving Private Ryan. Sure, its a good Hollywood action film, but its nowhere near the best war film. I'd say Letters From Iwo Jima, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Das Boot, Taegukkgi, The Great Escape, A Bridge Too Far, Tears of the Sun, Schindler's List, Good Morning Vietnam and Jarhead are the best.
Red Dawn and Harrisons Flowers were both good, but not anywhere near as good as SPR...
I also thought Battle of Britain was really cool...
I personally think Saints and Soldiers is a great war movie...but I wouldnt call it the best. Any movie honoring men and women of the armed services is a good one in my book.
The Downfall
easily the best acting i've seen in a WWII movie
