Last summer we had this small cottage that we havent used in a decade on some property my family owns. A part of the cottage fell down and the municipality told us to get rid of the cottage within one week or pay a big fine.

So me and my cousin took down the cottage by hand (with crowbars and sledgehammers, etc) and transferred all the materials to a container to be taken to the dump.

-It was pouring rain

-40 degrees celcius

-humid

-mud everywhere

- mosqitoes everywhere

- deer poop everywhere

-mold everywhere

- did that for about 3 days in a row

So yea, whats the worst physical labour youve ever done?

My dad, my two brothers and I completely remodeled the inside of my brother's house. We're talking new floors, drywall, carpets, installing new appliances, electric, plumbing, heating and vents, framing.... everything. By ourselves.

I have assisted in building all parts of a house (several different projects). Also, I have been shoveling snow since I was like 3, and apparently, an hour's shoveling, for a 160 lb person is worth about 500 calories.

Moved furniture for for about 16 hours, the next day too but a little less. Wasn't hard, just long and exhausting.

I've had a few close calls and plenty of bruises and busted shins.

I'm not going to lie physical labor, and I don't mesh well which is why I'm in the business of fixing computers.

Anyways I do lots of physical things that I don't get paid for. I've helped my parents move most of their house last year. I moved into an apartment not that long ago which involved taking couches and chairs up stairs. Also I'm the go to guy when heavy things need to move due to a somewhat natural strength.

Yeah...and this is Australia. It was so humid that day that sweat was dripping off my face just from being outside. After an hour I just wanted to die, it was so bad.

I dug up, cut, and re threaded 20 foot steel oil pipes across a 133 acre farm from a new deep oil well for natural gas to my grandpa's house. 100+ degree fahrenheit temps with a 90%'s humidity. I was 12, and vastly annoyed.

Most painful labor however was when I helped my cousin get all his hay done. We did little over 3000 bales. However someone lost the hooks, and I ended up having to pull the hay from the chute on the bailer by hand. My hand was bloody and raw when we got done that day.

No. You pull a foal down by the neck, they can't lean back to bite you.

It also keeps you away from those damn rear legs.

I helped my Dad put an addition onto our house when I was 16. Lots of lifting and climbing on to the roof.

I take it back. The hardest physical labor I've ever done was rolling champions fat mom off the bed so I can get to the computer to tell him that he probably likes to take weiners in every possible orifice 24 hours a day.

Oh, there we go...now the thread is complete.

For a week before I left North Dakota to come back to New York I did some temp work with some of the fracking crews. Negative 30 degrees the entire week. My hands got cracked from the cold. Worst food imaginable. I had to sleep on a cot not even three feet away from the horrid-smelling men. I did make a thousand bucks, though, and that got me home to New York.

Lets see...

I've run up a mountain in NM, with ~4000ft of climbing over ~9 miles... I've done a 17 mile trail run up mountains in CO, to 13,114 ft, and down the other side, totaling say, 6000ft of climbing... I've spent two weeks trekking the French and Swiss Alps, averaging roughly 15 miles per day...

Yeah. Whatever was actually the hardest physical labor, it was done for fun.

Well, it paid enough to help get me through college. Substantially more than Wal-Mart clerk or lifeguard wages, anyway.

Besides, I think everyone should do something like once in their life. No matter what you do for a living later, you'll appreciate being able to come home and actually do other things.

emptying semi trucks in the summer heat.

helping my dad and construction guys build extensions and fill out the basement on the house.

Interned at a zoo one summer. Lots of physical labor. Fun fact: rhino poop is not light. At all.
