Time you were in school or too young to start working doesn't count.

Ten months. I quit my job at McDonald's shortly after I turned 17 when I moved from Atlanta, GA to Maryland right outside of DC. Ended up enlisting in the Army nine months later, left for Basic a month after I enlisted, and been in since. That was over 13 years ago; people joining today are waiting over six months to go to Basic after enlisting thanks to the economy.
well i got my first job when i was 15, worked there til i was 18, then later at 18 i got my current job. it was only several months in between. also, i got a second job for about a month when i was still at my first job. but i quickly realize that having 2 jobs in high school SUCKED, which is why i quit the second job after only a month :P
totally thought you could have been my friend when i read the first part of your post. i live in georgia and my friend moved to DC. but then you talked about the army and then i knew you weren't him :PTen months. Not for very long. Even in the time between major jobs, I still did some part time work. Sucks to not have a job, though. My sympathies to anyone who is unemployed and actively searching.
A year or two. I was in high school, but I could still get a job because I was old enoug.
Then I got it a part time job and kept it. I'm glad I didn't quit it when I was thinking of it in high school.. It's nice for a part time job.

Between jobs, I'd say 2.5 years.
I'm still in college, so I haven't had much work experience aside from the 3 only jobs I've ever had.
yeah, i didn't count the college time i purposefully spent without a jobEh, a few months between jobs here and there. I'm a student tho, so it hardly counts.
