has anyone ever wondered? Can't you see a better use of time that the hundreds upon thousands of hours spent training for spelling just about any word imaginary? Does it really help anything? I'm just extremely anxious to know what kind of value that skill has and how it could possibly be worth anyones time. Kind of like counting how many grains of sand can fit in the Grand Canyon. It seems like such a waste of talent.

yea i kinda agree with you it is a waste. But maybe not if you want to be like an english teacher etc then it is helpful.

It isn't so much the spelling that is going to be applied as it is the self-esteem and the work ethic though. If you find something that you're good at doing at a very young age, you have a much higher chance of developing a healthy self-esteem. If you learn good work habits at a very young age, you're a lot more likely to let these work habits carry over into other things that you do.
