I used the word "r******d" while expressing my view of certain Islamic terrorists. I still can't quite get over it. It's beyond ridiculous, and it nearly made me leave GS altogether. Then I tried to argue about it on Ask the Mods, but all I got were pre-prepared robotic responses.
Let there be no mistake, the mods did an unbelievably poor job in this case. It makes me question their motives.

i feel ya. thats the word i said. it made me want to leave gs too. its not a bad word. just because kickin it old school made fun of it being a bad word dosnt meen it is. honestly, if gs comes down on more harmless every day words that they think are 'bad' then i will leave. its the main reason why i stay out of the gamespot created boards and mainly hit up the shared ones. it'll be 5 years, 6 in march, down the drain into building up post counts. but if i can't express myself in that type of way, then bye.
honestly, the 'R' word comes into play when someone thinks that obamas grandmother being a banker has a critical impact on his campaign (at the time) deserves to be called that.
I've only been suspended twice, both for the same reason. One was a full day suspension the other only a half a day. I'd say neither were weird.Â
In 9th grade were were doing a lab in physical science and this one guy was being mean to this other kid, making fun of him and stuff. So in response I started to make fun of the guy who was being mean to him. Because was had been held back and was suppose to be in 11th grade I started to make fun of him and started to say he wasn't very bright. So, when I wasn't looking he came around and grabbed my neck. I was sitting down in a desk. Anyways, he had my in a neck hold for about a second, and then I threw him half away across the room through about 3 desks. I was going to start charging him, but the teacher stepped inbetween us and I stopped. I got a half day suspension. I think he got a day, I'm not sure. I was honest about what happened and said I was sorry, so it wasn't a big deal.
In second grade I got into a fight with my brother and hit him. So they sent me home.
Besides that I haven't had any issues with authority figures.Â
Reread the rules. Using retarded in the place of stupid is considered offensive. It's really not hard to use a different word besides retard in place of a synonym for stupid. And I've never been suspended. :oI used the word "r******d" while expressing my view of certain Islamic terrorists. I still can't quite get over it. Lemme just say this: not all of the mods agree with the R-word being suspension-worthy, but CNet Legal does, and it's codified in the ToU as an instant suspension. There's nothing we can do about it... you can feel like the rule's stupid, but don't get mad at the mods about it. We didn't write the ToU.for "begging" sombody ask for a beta code for the new xbox dash board. i said like nobody will give u one, i'll also wait. they told me i was begging. i knew i wasn't going to get a code but for joke. iam2greenI dont believe you were joking. Anyone with the Shamwow! guy anywhere in their profile is not telling the truth. Im sorry, that's just the way it is.
I got a 5 days suspension for having a picture of Kroenen (The assasin guy from Hellboy) in my sig. I still don't know why.jointedthats odd...you sure there was no offense text under it or sumthing? maybe it was a glitch? wat did the suspension msg say?

"Offensive content". It would have been better if they'd just sent me a PM telling me what's offensive about it and to change it, instead of suspending me for 5 days. But hey, I've been here for 4 years, I've become used to the lousy moderators.
man, that sux...maybe having SS as a reference to nazis was seen as being offensive? I dunno, but it seems like the mod went a bit overboard :?
I got suspended for a very stupid reason. Here on OT, was having a discussion and only said "You guys should think outside the box" or something like that and was suspended for flaming WITH a loss of points!! I was like "WTF?!" I also emailed the mods for an explanation and they just gave me their crap default response to any flaming.
I mean, I dont see how askin someone to be a bit more open minded constitutes a week long ban and loss of points. I think the GS mods can be a bit uptight (very nice way of putting it)... And honestly, I am leaving GS altogether without looking back if they get me for something that minor again. I have been a member for years (as you can tell with my low postcount yet decent rating). Should be level 13 now if not for this crazyness.
Also - you guys may find this even more entertaining:
I was suspended for 3 days (out of school) in 7th grade, I believe (long time ago). Some girl in my class said "I'm not comin to school on Thursday because its 'bomb ur school day'." I had no idea what she was on about so I replied loudly and along the lines of "What?! I haven't even started on my bomb yet!" Of course, the whole class erupted in laughter, but my teacher looked directly at me in a very serious manner and stated quite plainly "That's not funny." This shut everyone up and I didn't think anything more of it. About 30 mins later in the next class, the dean of students comes in and asks for me to come with him (for which I got a resounding "Ooooooooooh..." from the class). He explained to me in his office about the middle school's 'zero tolerance' policy for bomb threats!! LOL He said that 'bomb your school day' was the anniversary of the Columbine incident (the first I'd heard of it). I asked "wouldnt it be easier for me to now build a bomb and set it off while I'm on out-of-school suspension for 3 days? It would be far more difficult to pull it off while in class, don't you think?" That didnt help my case. My parents thought it was ridiculous and tried arguing him as well. In the end, I got 3 days off school to play PC games, and my parents werent even angry at me because they thought the situation was so insane and that what I said wasnt worth my punishment at all, especially since I didnt know what the girl was talking about. That was 7th grade in Indiana.
Another time, I got suspended for 1 day in elementary school (4th grade I think) for getting into a fight with a kid who later became one of my best friends. That one we both deserved lol.

We didn't write the ToU.i never said i was mad at the mods. its a 'R' rule. but the way i kind of see it is this. GS is a city. mods are the police. saying 'R' is like jay walking. its a very common thing. but it takes that real special cop who loves to show his badge just a little bit too much to give someone a ticket for jay walking.
