What's up with all of the Theist/Atheist Threads?

I'm just curious as today there are like 4-5 threads on page 1. Anyway if you have a question about a religion I'm sure OT is not the best place to start. Google alone will net you some great places to start your research.

For the same reason there are Xbox360 vs PS3 threads on System Wars.

People want to justify their belief and since they have no friends they do it here.

Because some people want to talk about it, and it's hard to talk with a google search. Also, debates are fun.

I'd rather read a religious thread than some "I'm an awkward teen and need help with girls" thread

This is OT in a nutshell dude. If you notice any debate there's a strong majority leaning to one side and they mob the minorities.

I noticed a surge in the past few days as well. Most of them are started by Trolls in my opinion. Lately I haven't been posting in them for that and other reasons (save for this one and one other one).

Well any thread that has even the slightest mention of religion or God will have 30 atheists running in and proclaiming "Religion is evil, it causes all war, there is no God, how can you belive in God it's 2011" etc.

It may have something to do with Stephen Hawking's recent decloration of there being no Heaven.Double_Wide

That's exactly how I've always viewed those type of debates (religion vs. atheism)...to even begin the debate on an online forum shows a sign of great insecurity in one's belief. However, I do enjoy the PS3 vs. 360 debates...its fun seeing all the XBOX owners try to talk their way around the RROD issue (no offense to anyone :P)
