it's not a complicated system... lamprey263
it's not, but I do find it interesting that regardless of the food price virtually the same work is done no matter the restaurant. Do people who do serve more expensive food work substantially harder than those who server cheaper food? If not why do they deserve more money?
Don't get me wrong I understand societal norms, it's just that this one is particularly easy to poke logical holes in.

Well usually you do have better service at more expensive restaurants or at least i have. They also usually have less tables and less people to serve so they need more money per table due to people staying and eating longer at nice restaurants compared to cheaper places.I tip based on service and whether or not I have cash on me. Not to mention if I'm trying to save money I aint paying any extra. I have no regrets the (here at least) states if an employees wages are made mostly through tips and they dont at least get what they would make getting paid minimum, then the restatarunt has to cover it.
So they aren't losing anything. If I'm gonna give someone extra money, I want to have impressive service. Also, fvck the bullshit having there tip based on what I get. I can go to red lobster and either spend 10 Â bucks or over 30. If the service is shit, they arent getting anything either way. If I'm impressed and pleased, its gonna be 5 bucks either way. Just because the cooks made soemthing better, doesnt mean the server worked harder.
Service makes a difference in how I tip and I've noticed that servers remember you when you tip well and give you even better service when you return. Â
What's wrong with tipping in general (not for food) is that it's gotten difficult to tell when it's appropriate to tip.
I tip based upon the preformance for any staff that interacts with me.
since the majority of tips especially credit card based tips are given on a percentage and aren't solely given to just the waitress. So based upon the waitress or waiters abilities and the cooks abilities I give a tip the lowest being a Single penny which I keep with me so If a meal is particularly bad I leave the penny as a tip, with a written note on the back with what was wrong, That is If the meal is worthwhile in the least otherwise I often send the food back pay for my drink and leave.
The highest tip I've given is 50 dollars.
1.Waitress was fing hot.
2. steak was amazing.
3. Â Waitress was smart, paid attention and made sure she asked after me every 7-10 minutes to make sure my beverage was filled.
What's Wrong With Tipping?Addict187Nothing. Cow topping is fun until you tip a bull. Seriously though, I have never and will never tip.
Nothing. I just tip based on the courtesy system, same as most people. If you were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner enjoyable, you get 20%.
If you were just average, 15%
If you were horrible (and this has only happened once to me, ever. Waitress flipped shit on me because I asked her if I could change my side a few minutes after I ordered it. I'm not sure if she was either crazy or just having a bad day), you get nothing. It would take someone just being a horrible person for me not to tip. If you accidentally spill my drink, drop my food, write my order down wrong, etc., just mistakes we all make, that has no effect on what I think of the service. I tip based on how you are as a person.
