BMI is useless, most top athletes would qualify as overweight/obese.
For example I'm 6'2" and 220lbs, big but not huge. I'm not in the best shape of my life but I'm an ex AA/AAA hockey player and do work out fairly often so I'm probably in better shape than most people. I scored a 28.2, which is "overweight", bordering on "obese".
19.2% personally I think i could be skinnier. My brother is about 4.5%... He is seriously skinny, but he eats the same if not more than I do.Luminouslight
lol its not a percentage value. and I highly doubt your brother has a bmi of 4.5,he'd probably be dead.
That'd be like someone 5 feet tall weighing around 22lbs
Your skeleton weighs more than that probably.
That means nothing, you could be 200 pounds and like 5'7 and all muscle.-Karmum-
BMI = Body Mass Index. Body Mass. It calculates your body mass, wether it's muscles or flab. It's doubtful if someone makes it over 30 and being all muscle, because if he did, he'd look enormous.
Frankly, I completely disagree with the whole BMI thing anyway. Everyone knows that muscle weighs more than fat, so if a completely fit person who is very muscular goes by that calculation, they may end up under the obese category. Then there are the differences in bone structure...someone who is large boned will generally weigh more than someone who is smaller boned (and I am saying this if they are the same height).Wren28
That makes me wonder if anyone paid some real attention to my last quote. :x

Yeah, but someone who's very muscular is probablyinto fitness and training, and knows that BMI is a not a good indicator for him/her.
