WWII was interesting, but the USSR really took out Germany, so it was US versus Japan really. The cold war was my favorite, which reminds me, tomorrow is the day Yuri Gagarin went into space.

probably Iwo-Jima. The japanese burried themselves underground and shot up, so bullets came out of the ground. The general told them before that battle, "you will die on Iwo-Jima, but you will take out 10 Americans before doing so."

Favorite War? That's kind of a weird question. I can't say I enjoy any of them.

WWII was not really an American war, but the U.S. was invovled with the war. I would say the Revolutionary War, specifically the Battle of Yorktown.

"It is the Russian Army that has done the main work of ripping the guts out of the German Army." - Winston Churchill

Of course, Russia had destroyed Germany on their own soil. But I don't think we can give them all the tribute. America and Britain deserve equal credit for pounding at them in the West. Russia certainly didn't reclaim France. You shouldn't really back up opinions with more opinions. Facts work better.

When people say their favorite war, they're obviously referring to things like tactics, scale and technology harbored from it not slaughtering, killing and torture

Russia didn't do anything in the war at all. The Soviet Union took out most of Germany's forces and cost them the war overall. the USSR took Berlin and liberated the first holocaust camp.

My all time favorite war is WWII, but that does not me I am a psychopath. In WWII, new types of warfare were introduced that led to greater discoveries. Like Albert Einstein. He fled Germany, luckily, and came to the U.S. with a plan of the atomic bomb. After the atomic bomb was a huge success, new types of bombs were created.

The US was fighting a two front war, as well. the US arguably did more to defeate the Axis.

The Civil War. Its when we whupped all the other countries that tried to fight us so bad that none of them wanted to get into a war with us anymore, so we decided to go to war with ourselves because we're just so 'effing metal.

my great grandad told me a similar story about ww1 he fought in the battle of the Somme and the British officers used to tell the troopes they would probably be dead within seconds of living the trench luckily for him he survived all his trench dashes he told me before he died that some of the guys just didn't die know matter how bad the situation they would survive some how he was luckily one of those people ;)

the Eastern front had more gore and death than every other front in the war combined. It was the largest theater of war in all of world history. You are probably American and in American schools, the western front is more stressed. the USSR took germany, it was the Eastern front that eventually cost Germany WW II. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was victorious!

I'm well aware of the USSR's contributions and the importance of battles like Krusk and Stalingrad, but the largest blows to Germany from a strategic standpoint were dealt at Operation Overlord, The Battle of the Bulge, and D-Day.

none of those operations would've been successful had the USSR not been chewing away at the nazis on the Eastern front. It was thanks to the USSR kicking nazi ass that the entire German army wasn't on the western front. If the entire German army was on the western front then I doubt those strategic battles/stunts would've worked out.

Stalingrad would like to talk.

Anyways probably WW1or 29 (in Europe) if your talking about wars we were involved in.
If you mean wars we in which we played a major part WW2 in Africa ,and the Pacific.) or the Civil war.

Because maybe some people didn't want to be enslaved by a foreign government, and were perfectly content with a non fascist democracy...

WW2 and Vietnam.. although the only 'true' American war is the American Civil War. A lot of other countries fought in the other wars America was involved in.. and in each of those wars bullets were whizzing around before America was even involved. (Yes that includes Vietnam.. the French were the first to have troops as they sent troops in while pulling their peace keeping force out who were being attacked).

A lot of people died in most of them, which makes it hard to LIKE them. But I suppose I have an interest in World War 2 more than the others, mainly because my grandfather was in it.

[QUOTE="A_Tarkovsky"][QUOTE="akatsuki0wn3d"]WWII was interesting, but the USSR really took out Germany, so it was US versus Japan really. The cold war was my favorite, which reminds me, tomorrow is the day Yuri Gagarin went into space.DivergeUnify

Yep. D-Day had nothing to do with their defeat whatsoever.

What did you quote wrong?
