News on television from any source I've seen is garbage. You've got to get it in print/internet form.

As an example, CNN.com is actually decent online. I use it for it's breadth of content.

Reuters is my general go-to source for news. I supplement it with other targeted sources like Fortune, BBC, Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.

I typically browse a few of the "mainstream" news sites for a good giggle: BBC, CNN, MSNBC etc.

But when it's the truth that I want, I head on over to Information Clearing House.

That is a good spot to find news.

For my daily news feed, I usually use Reuters, Al Jazeera, CBS, NPR, Slate, Politico, The New York Times, Washington Post, and PBS. If I want an in-depth analysis of a certain topic, I like to read The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, and Defense One.

I usually avoid news media on television (unless it's PBS because their documentaries are amazingly well-researched), but I do have a guilty pleasure in watching Rachel Maddow aka liberal Bill O'Reilly. Yeah, I like Rachel Maddow. Sue me.

NPR for sure. Not only do I not have to lend my eyeballs to it, but it tends to have great reporting.

As for television, on MSNBC I still watch Chris Matthews every once in a while out of old habit (he is like junk food) and I don't mind Lawrence O'Donnell.

On Fox News I like Special Report with Bret Baier.

Like the rest of the US I like CNN for breaking news coverage. I think they have the best hosts in Wolf and Cooper.

As for the Sunday's shows I tend to catch a little bit of Face the Nation and This Week. Meet the Press has been on a downward spiral since Russert died. I might watch the Fox News Sunday panel if (mainly) George Will is in it.

I also watch the McLaughlin Group and TYT.

Considering the impressive lists a couple of active topic creators mentioned in this topic, it's safe to say OT is a valid catholic source of news; I admire such commitment to staying informed.

Personally, Haaretz is my go-to news source on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the domestic affairs of both sides, though it's also an excellent source of regional news, and to a lesser extent, of world news, with a unique insight reminiscent of classic journalism. Although the site is guilty of a few staple Israeli prejudices, which is probably a response to a reality in which repudiating those prejudices is tantamount to losing all credibility, I still admire the non-partisanship and journalistic integrity to which it aspires and the courage that sustains them against the acute polarization of the Israeli polity to the right and a nascent Jewish tyranny.

I know TYT gets no love around here, but I remain a fan. I can put up with the liberal fest of licentiousness and lawlessness for the insight it provides into American domestic affairs that either don't make it to the news or arrive entirely garbled (hint: gunmen who're either mentally ill or gentle loners.)

Clearly, the list is short, but thanks to OT, diversity is ensured. I often find myself wandering through a news website after having arrived there through a link posted here in the forum. If I stop coming to OT for whatever reason, I regularly stop by CNN, BBC, and POLITICO. Also, RT has been becoming part of my repertoire recently - I'm surprised by the expansiveness of the network and premium of the brand.

The Guardian, La Vanguardia and the BBC are my main three news sources. I'll check out the NY Times every now and then, and I like to read The Economist, though not really as a source of news.

I should read more Al Jazeera...

CNN just isn't good anymore, they take one story (often race related) and beat it to death for a week or 2, ALWAYS siding with black America. Best time to watch CNN is Sunday on Fareed Zakaria GPS (a great show) and occasionally State of the Union, but I miss Candy Crowley.

MSNBC can't be trusted either, although their views are closer to mine.

Been watching One America News, although a little conservative for my tastes, they do get thru the news.

Still looking for a good fair news source, suggestions?

All mainstream media is corporate sponsored and corrupt! There is no more grass-root journalism, it's all about Astroturfing and media manipulation of the masses.

If you really want to know what's going on, minimize your time watching commercial TV, start going to lectures to hear people like Noam Chomsky(Scientist, political commentator, logician) Credible people like him really go beyond what is being said in the mainstream....no conspiracy theory with that guy.

Start listening or watching independent news broadcast.

Local news sites and community forums for local stuff. CNN for national and international, though I tend to ignore the obvious leftist editorials.

I usually go to Google news app thing and just focus on one or two interesting thing and read many sources for it. I tend to stick to the science section, less depressing and less bullshitty than the other sections.

I watch RLD or Red Light District News. All seedy back alley coverage, all the time. Good stuff.
