Pretty much that and to never immediately assume something, I've learned quite the hard way a lot of times now that assumption truly is the mother of all fudgeups.Spend my time given on this planet as best as possible.

Never going to say on here what I believe. It keeps me unbiased in arguments. Let's put it this way. I am a scientist. My mind is open and I make my own beliefs based on what I can feasibly conclude. And if I can't factually conclude it, I table it until I can one way or another.

Better. Just because I have a very scientific view of the universe, does not mean I don't have some sort of belief or respect for the paranormal and/or unexplicable. That's part of being a scientist. Sometimes you just have to throw your hands up and say, "I have no friggen idea". Sometimes the right conclusion is 'not enough evidence to reach a conclusion'.

Well said!
The materialistic view of the universe sounds really bleak and senseless.GreekGameManiacIt's only bleak and senseless if you require another person or entity to give you direction and meaning. Many people are empowered by the idea that the universe doesn't care about them, and in order for their existence to mean something, they have to do something about it.
live and enjoy life as well as you can. try not to harm others (you can still harm someone emotionally, psychologically, physically unintentionally). Find love in the world. Help when you can those less fortunate then you with pragmatic materialistic assistance providing real tangible security, and not provide the false sense of security.
do not buy into the false security of popular consent on mere face value (this goes for all belief systems, theological, secular, and social).
Remain and be skeptically pragmatic about your own beliefs.

That has nothing to do with my point.
