Perssonally I believe in reincarnation, I kinda think of the soul as if its an physical matter and as widely believed in science matter can neither be destroyed or created and that after my deathmy soul will be used to habit anougher being. Whats your opinions on the subject?

Technically I'm Christian so I do believe in Heaven and Hell. I'm probably more leaning towards Hell atm, but I'm a good person really.

I think it will just feel like one big dream. I can't really imagine life ending. One scenario I thought of would be that we get reincarnated as some animal or some person with no recollection of any past lives. But mainly the Heaven and Hell thing for me.

"tell all of your friends, death is not the end"

its my opinion that there is some form of existence after death, but i wouldn't call it life.

There's no afterlife for us, rather the provision of life to the earth – worm food and a bit of nutrients for shrubs and plants that grow above us.

That's of course unless we're cremated, in which case we'll probably sit in a little urn somewhere.

I have a couple different thoughts, I haven't really decided yet.

1)There could be a perfect afterlife, not quite heaven really, but just a good life.

2) Similar to the first, half your soul goes to 'heaven' or whatever, and the other half becomes a new person

3) It's all one big dream and when we die, we wake up :P

I know I can't and won't ever be certain.

But as far as I'm concerned, absence of evidence is evidence of absence. I find no reason to believe something that has-not and cannot materialize itself.

It's just a simplified idea that is a quick explanation of "nothingness", but people have a negative gut reaction to that word.

I believe it was Mark Twain that came up with the "before you were born" analogy, I just can't remember his full quote.

We don't know anything for certain; merely make judgments on the information that we gather. Why we should think there's a non-physical entity that resides inside of us is beyond me – I have no information that makes me think that's plausible. I can see it's a comforting thought, but I'm quite comfortable with the knowledge that my body will hopefully provide the earth with the nutrients required to perpetuate further life.

well in that case when I die I am going to have myself liquified into gelatin, mixed with fuel and turned into napalm, and then dumped onto a wildlife refuge.

I believe there is some sort of afterlife, but i'm not sure what. There have been way too many instances of people claiming to have seen a spirit or ghost of someone from their past. If it was a handful of people then you could be skeptical, but there have literally been thousands of people who claim they have seen a spirit of a person from their past. It would be very nieve of me, and quite frankly ignorant, to assume that thousands of people are just MAKING UP THESE STORIES for the hell of it. Obviously they saw something and you'd be hard pressed to tell me not ONE of them legitimately saw what they said. I'm not saying they are all credible, but all it takes is one to prove something else is out there. I guess we'll wait and see. In the meantime i'll continue and try to be a good person in this life

There is no life after death... except for those around you who are still living.

There is absolutely no evidence to say any part of the body, except its constituent matter, "lives" on after death... and everything that claims as such is just wishful thinking. That's the problem in today's society. Everyone is afraid of death. It comes to get everyone at some point or another. Just accept it and get on with your life. Think of death as sleep and live every day to its fullest. The only life you "know" you get is this one... so take advantage of it.

Hmm..I have trouble getting my mind around both nothingness and infinity, every time I really try..I feel like I lose a few hundred brain cells. I can't afford to lose to many..so I've stopped thinking about it.:)

I do not have any expectations of life after death, rebirth, heaven and that sort.

I pretty much think that when I die, im gone thats it, atleast I wont feel as tired and worn out as I feel now.

If Reincarnation I guess I am more in line with TC then alot of newage movements, the thought that the "soul" is a constant inside a closed circet, It might go back to the "pool" untill drawn to another life, altho it wont ver be the same person in any way (since the person is based in the psysical being)

I do not really belive in Heaven, nor Hell... I find it somewhat illogical that God would create a club for the good souls for eternity, besides from what Ive seen of the world, or rather people in it, Heaven would be largely empty since I dont think I ever met a truely "good" person, most people follow the words of God just to get into heaven, a purely Selfish goal. Driven by fear biggatry and hatred.

If I once met a man (or women) who really did all the good they could to other people, but expected no reward in an afterlife at all (or this life), then that person might be one of the few who'd get there.

theres nothing when you die its likesleeping but without dreaming its actually preety easy to imagine this i mean usually your not aware your sleeping it almost feels like when you dont dream you almost fast forward time and instantly hit morning the time you go to sleep. but what if morning never came and you slept forever not knowing your dead or anything no thoughts just oblivion

let me quote mark twains mysterious stranger(which i personally think is best buck huck fin can go suck a golf ball)

"In a little while you will be alone in shoreless space, to wander its limitless solitudes without friend or comrade forever - for you will remain a thought, the only existent thought, and by your nature inextinguishable, indestructible. But I, your poor servant, have revealed you to yourself and set you free. Dream other dreams, and better!"

"Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane - like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell - mouths mercy and invented hell - mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him! . . .

"You perceive, now, that these things are all impossible except in a dream. You perceive that they are pure and puerile insanities, the silly creations of an imagination that is not conscious of its freaks - in a word, that they are a dream, and you the maker of it. The dream-marks are all present; you should have recognized them earlier."

well i just use my own logic to come to a conclusion on this sort of thing- the only thing that makes me, you and every one think, the only thing that makes us feel, are the tiny electric impulses in the brain...when we die we no longer produce enough energy to keep these electric impulses active so they cease- and so does our life, thoughts and feelings...and thus i do not believe in an afterlife...but thats just my opinion

It's comforting to believe that life feeds on life to survive, so in a sense, there could be a constant amount of life in the world, but I can't believe that I'll continue to be aware after death.

I hold the belief that the afterlife is unique to everyone, their own personal heaven or hell. What one person might consider "heaven" or "hell" isn't the same as another's definition. Nothing is absolute.

I don't believe in life after death. I believe this is our only life, and if someone wants to waste their short time on this earth praying to some deity and living in fear then have at it.

However, if it turns out that I'm horribly wrong and there is indeed a hell, maybe I'll run into some of you OT'ers as we both burn for all eternity.
