Whats your view of trolling?

You know.. alot of people say trolls are bad...and all this other stuff but in my opinion some can actually make a site what it is:o

There's a difference between flaming and just straight up being annoying, in that case i'm not really pro trolling but actually some can kinda be somewhat of a free speech advocate when you think about it, creative and basically expressing their views of stuff without being afraid of going against the general population.

so whats your view of "trolling"? 8)

Trolls are fun.

People these days don;t even know what trolling is anymore.

Someone says something stupid or unfunny "omg gtfo u troll".

A good troll makes it so you don't even know you got trolled, a bad troll is one that makes you laugh when you realise you did. :)

Um....they're annoying?

While there are "good trolls and bad trolls", I won't refer to someone as a troll unless they spam or purposely come into a thread to just annoy people.

People who come and make slightly offensive (at least what mods consider offensive) and funny jokes or to voice their constructive criticism aren't considered trolls in my book because they are usually the life of the party, they are what make some boring threads interesting and I tend to associate the word "troll" with a negative connotation.

I don't rreally mind trolls. Unless they're annoying like these guys:

Good trolls can be really funny. But when people are just being outright hateful and aggressive it stops being funny somewhat.

Trolls generally think their opinion is the only right one. We don't need them on a gaming website.

My opinion is when someone gets a third moderation for trolling they should be perma-banned.

I think it depends on how you define trolling. This board defines it very generally. I am often times warned for being one, when all I was doing was making a joke to make a few people crack smirks.

In my opinion, a troll is someone that is there to cause trouble through any means necessary. That is much different than someone that posts a sarcastic one liner trying to be funny. Just my opnion, though. That's why I'm not a mod!

I think trolls shouldn't have a place in a stable society, whether it be online or in real life,because all they do is ruin it and change the corse of it.Not to mention so many of them think that they are funny while in reality they are not and are quite immature:(. They are annoying and they never stop to troll no matter what. So I dissagree with you on this.
But I also don't like it when people are occused of trolling, whileast they aren't trying to do that. Aquording to official definition, trollling is defined as baiting someone into a discussion and making him respond innaproprately, not simply being different or unpopular. So in conclusion I don't like trolls.

However... I would really like it if popular sites would allow teenegers, different cultures, and slang languages to take place, at least in a selected enviroment.. IMO.. that's not trolling and I don't see how it could be bad, it would only make it more prosper and fun.>> But yea, that's just my opinion.

sometimes it's fun... though i don't do it on this site. or others for that matter. but sometimes i'll "troll" in real life, just to get reactions out of people :P i always do it in jest though.

I would be banned if this were the case, fortunately it is not. I haven't been aware of me trolling though, I just don't bother to contest moderations much. I've seen the most blatant of trolls on SW with 20+ page posts of pure flamebait and I once made a thread close to the same as that guy and it got locked almost instantly. (mind you this was not at the same time, so it wasn't one of those fad threads). So I never know what constitutes as trolling on this website.

For me, trolling is not having a differing viewpoint, but rather presenting one's viewpoint (differing or otherwise) in a way that is meant primarily to annoy people. It's entirely possible to argue a contrarian position without going out of your way to upset people. In fact, I take a person's arguments far more seriously when they are presented in a respectful manner.

I don't respect trolls at all, and I frankly don't care if they feel their "right to free speech" is being violated because they can't post specifically to irritate people for their amusement, or because they simply aren't very nice individuals. If they want to post disrespectfully, most of the internet is their playground, and they can go elsewhere.

This is subtle trolling as I like to call it, even got an admin to respond but I'm guessing he responded due to the amount of people talking in that thread.
