TIME's lack of Tony Blair as Person of the Year at some point was another mistake.

a sci-fi movie like Lord of the Rings

Eh? :P Anywho, awards and critics exist to basically buff the egos of individuals who consider themselves too intellectual to enjoy movies which people actually like. Hence why Martin Scorsese was only given an Oscar after half of hollywood threatened to not attend the Oscars if he wasnt. The judges and critics simply dont like rewarding good movies. It's far too simple and unpretentious.

Only epic labour party supporters would agree with that statement.

It doesn't deserve the credit it's receiving for being "dark" and "brutal", common the movie is PG-13 don't make me laugh.

A movie doesn't have to be literally violent to be considered dark or brutal. Look at the intensity of the acting. The way the Joker intimidates people and shoves a knife up close in their face. He doesn't have to actually stab them but the vision of a man in white face point and red lipstick with a knife to a womans throat is a dark and brutal image. Forget the rating. Compare how intense this film is to the Joel Schumacher movies of the 90s or even the original 60s batman movie. They were so camp and corny with their cheesey lines.

Also, the so called "moral ambiguity" of the film that batman fanboys are claiming...just..isn't THERE imo. Everything is very straightforward and quite frankly childish, so it's funny to me when I hear people praising its complexity.

SPOILERS.

There is a high end of moral ambiguity to the film. It raises questions for us: Will Batman comply to a terrorist like The Joker and reveal his identity if it means saving lives of innocent people. That is a HUGE question to ask. And it is also complient with the terrorism and political undertones of the movie.

EDIT: Also the moral choice at the end of the film is very important too. Do you let the people of Gotham know the truth about Harvey Dent? That a politican was lured to the criminals and the corrupt? Or do you lie to them and raise their spirits, pretending that it was he who was actually the hero? I love that ending. Such a great speech. Check my sig!!

The action is pretty good but I would liked to have seen more. It would be better if they dedicated more screen time to some action sequences instead of pretentious unconvincing dialog scenes.

You have to have swings in momentum in a film. If you just have all action in a film and no "plot" or "pretentious unconvincing dialogue scenes" for example then the audience will grow tired. There has to be a drive for the action, a reason why its occurring - its called Narrative.

If we didn't have this then you would just have all these random action sequences that don't have any reason for being there and are just happening for the sake of it.
