I find that to be a problem for me. When people who I'm not totally friends with ask me that, or ask how I am, I respond with some one word answer like "nothing" or "alright". So I'm wondering what you people say when asked that, because I don't enjoy killing off any chance of a conversation or making new friends like this.
"The Catholics are coming to get you and they are not pleasant people." (Note, I have nothing against the Catholics. At all. It's just a George Carlin quote, go flame him instead.) I just say it until they stop saying "what's up" to me.... Seriously, they could be a bit more creative in terms of saying "hello."

Oh, I've got a good one, that one friend of mine said to another. The one guy is pretty fat, and asks "What's up guys?", and the other responds "Nothin'...besides your cholesterol!"
Needless to say, the class erupted in laughter over such ownage.
I get so ticked off when people ask me that 'cause i get asked that same question over and over. i'd say something along the lines of "why do you care? It's none of your buisness" or "Screw off"
