Some people judge music depending on the race behind it, the genre, the artist, and the background of why it was created. An old man cam up to me at Big Lots and said that I should stop listening to the rap music that I was listening to. Little did he know that it was R & B, which is rap and blues. I was also listening to the Bone Thugs n Harmony. I listen to them not because of their race, but because it sounds great, inspiring, and musical!

People say certain music can kill a person. I don't believe that. I am a musician, and music is universal. It is the universal language to everyone. I listen to lots of japanese music, because it is peaceful! It sounds amazing and pleasing to the ear. I don't really care for the lyrics, but I love a good beat with great sound.

I guess it depends on where you grow up, and how you were raised. If you had a good mind and could think for yourself at a young age, then you wouldn't have that problem, because you used common sense instead of listening to mom and dad, because sometimes they can be wrong too.

I just wanna say that if your gonna hate a certain genre of music, atleast give a good explanation instead of acting like an ignorant person trying to get some love over something you don't even know. In order to critisize a song, you have to delve into the beat, rhythm, and making of the song. You need to understand why it doesn't feel right. For example; I don't like certain styles of music where people scream into the mic and say certain things. Im not trying to be funny or judgemental, but to me, it doesn't have any type of rhythm, harmony, melodic content, or anything in that composure that "to me" creates a great piece of music. Now, I understand that some people enjoy that type of music. I am not going to critisize you for enjoying music that is pleasing to YOU!

Basically, if your gonna hate a song, give a good reason to why, and then don't try to critisize the person for listening to something that makes HIM feel good. Thats like saying," Since I don't like a certain religion, we should stop our children and people from following that religion." If it makes sense to you, then do it. I get tired of people saying that their are music that can make a person do things. Which they can, but only if you don't have a good grip on reality, and don't have a great mental mind.

Well, thats my 2 cents. If you hear your friend listening to music you hate, don't hate them for listening to it, think about why they listen to it. *wink* *wink*

Most people are highly ignorant when it comes to music they are unfamiliar with.

Ya, i also caught that, R&B is Rhythm and Blues not Rap and blues. But i think critic of one´s music taste is primarily something you have problem with in highschool or first years of some colleges, after that most people learn to be more tolerant and open-minded.

I don't exactly tell people what I listen to. But often times listening to certain music reflects certain attributes about the person. That being said, I hate when people classify genres with race.

Criticizing music is fine as long as you understand what you're talking about. If you criticize the person's taste then it boils down to immaturity.

I don't much care what anyone enjoys unless they A....start on my music...or B....blast it and disrupt what I'm doing. Other than that....have at it....your ears

The only people I have problems with when it comes to music. It's the people who will only listen to something that's considered popular, and 2 years down the road they would say that music is too old for them. Pretty much just yuppies trying to be cool.

I really don't like rap, and hip hop, but as long as you don't make me listen to it people can listen to whatever they want.

I'm still a teenager yet I enjoy classical music... I hate when my friends don't comprehend the beauty on classical music and say that *insert random pop singer* makes more money, has more girls and makes better music based on the fact of YouTube views...

People are super ignorant/arrogant when it comes to Art they're unfamiliar with. Trust me, I study music in University: EVERYONE IS A MUSIC SNOB DOUCHEBAG. I play pop music. Forget about having a rational arguement about popular music with metal heads/Opera-Orchestra ass holes.

I'm a metalhead. I really do not give a damn what people think of what I listen to, because I know I will get one of two responses:

1. \m/

or

2. "What the f*** kind of noise is that shit?!?"

Either way, I know the type of person I'm dealing with.

I listen to other stuff... it's damned difficult to drive to anything but metal, though... makes the trip kind of sssslllloooowwww.

Bone thugs n harmony are pretty amazing when they want to be. Creepin on Ah Come Up, East 1999 Eternal, Art of War, BTNHResurrection, HEaven'z Movie, The Gift, etc. The biggest issue with them is they are bad at business and need someone looking over them and directing them. You could tell they were confused once Eazy E died, and while their music right after he died was good, it wasnt as cohesive and complete as COACU and E1999Eternal.

I can't believe people are still allowed to use that label on crappy pop-rap-something-crap music. It doesn't even sound like what Rn'B sounded like back in the day...

I do understand when someone does not like my musical taste, it just means we have different musical tastes which is not that uncommon. But what really gets on my nerves when someone walks to me and basically says "You listen to shit". Fvck off...
