Or the world for that matter.. It's not really "selfish," god's not going to bless only the US because a couple of people said that.

And they call themselves Canadians, Mexicans. etc. They DON'T call themselves Americans.
America is just a shortening of United States of America, like Yemen is a shortening of The Republic of Yemen.
Really, no need to get uptight about it.

In all practical uses of the word, America only refers to the country. People from North America as a whole are North Americans, people from South America are South Americans, and people from central America are considered Central Americans.Don't you think it's selfish? Like if they thought they were the only important nation in all AmericaTimesplitter14Well, we are known as "Americans" and we do rank #1 in the international scale.

It's a lot easier than saying "God Bless the United States of America." You say it's selfish to not bless the Americas entirely, but what about Africa, Europe, Asia.. what about the penguins in Antarctica??
*Looks at all the hurricanes lately* Don't think hes blessing anyone right now. billnye69Hit the weak point for massive damage!!!
Further, the hispanohablantes refer to us as estadounidenses, not Americans. Considering their numbers alone, they may just have an opinion worth considering.
I believe "American" always refers to the United States. I've never seen it applied to anyone else (Except the Confederates back in our Civil War, and they don't count anymore).

Well at least if they say ''America'', it should mean America

No. There is no "America", unless you count the USA. So the only thing we should call America is the USA. The rest of the world doesn't seem to care, so you should stop.No. There is no "America", unless you count the USA.Greatgone12Nevermind South America. Isn't it the size of New Hampshire or something?

We're just talking about America, which is only used to refer to the USA.
