When was the last time you seen an Ice Cream Truck passing your neighborhood?

Come on, you know what I'm talking about? One of those Ice Cream Trucks that plays melody music attracting kid when they see Ice Cream inside the truck, asking Mommy & Daddy for pennies buying there kids Ice Cream. Now this is the year 2017, in the area I live, I don't see those Ice Cream Trucks anymore now, do you?

A Ice Cream vendor is sitting below my office and i had a Black Forest on Lunch today :P

We don't have those here - never seen one.

When summer hits.

The last time was thirty years ago when he hit a child who ran out on the road and launched him 50 yards. Either that did him in or the time he tried to get a child to come in the back of his truck for ice cream.

We get one pretty regurally around here. It plays some creepy music with a clown laugh.

My neighborhood every summer still. And ooo do they ever pass through so slowly.

I live near NYC, so we get Mister Softee trucks in my area every now and then during the summer. Probably 3 times a week at best.

Their ice cream and milk shakes are the bomb. The latter though is likely loaded with sugar. But since I can't have dairy anymore without breaking out. I may only get a small slushy. As that too is loaded with sugar.

There's an ice cream and butcher truck that comes round now and again.

All the old people pile out to buy cigarettes, no kids lol

Every day in the summer as I live out side a park and truck goes in there. We call it a Ice cream Van not truck. lol.

Few weeks ago when temps was over 50F for a good stretch....

I remember those. I loved the push up and pop ups. So refreshing. =P

One came around my neighborhood about a week ago. I will say that they aren't around as much as they used to when I was growing up.

Yeah, I guess it depends on the area where you live and if it has more kids on the blocks, you'll be lucky to see an Ice Cream Truck passing along. Back in my days, they were very popular during the summer time but now, not anymore, even when I move to an new house, I don't see any in my new neighborhood.

My work place has a ice cream truck come to my building once a year and we can get whatever we want for free. Otherwise though the last time I've seen one driving around was maybe 30 or so years ago.

@pimphand_gamer: The ice cream bike is all I see in Chicago. They are all Mexicans and sell some kind of Mexican ice cream bars in several different flavors. They are pretty awesome.

Really? I have never seen one of those Ice Cream bikes in my childhood life or is it a new thing now?

we used to have one that came through daily in the summer though we have not seen him come by in the past few years.. maybe i live in a lactose intolerant neighborhood.

as a child they used to come by all the time too. it was always a race to get to the street in time to flag the guy down while my siblings ran inside to hit up my parents for $. good times :)

I can say for sure it's been going on for at least 20 years. It might just be a north side thing though, I don't know. In the summer you always see them. They will usually ride by schools after they let out. They ride down the sidewalk ringing their bell.

This dude just has the usual ice cream truck treats though.

Kinda new in this neighborhood but saw an ice cream van a couple times like a month ago. But I think it was a kidnapper.

If I wanted ice cream, I could just walk 5 minutes to the store and get some from a mexican store.

@mrbojangles25: Yeah, paletas. Those are the things I was trying to describe. The Mexicans sell all kinds of awesome food on the street, those corn cups, tamales. If Trump succeeds in deporting everyone my quality of life is going to take a nose dive.

We still get them from time to time where I live, but we never buy from them anymore. Their prices have gotten so ridiculous, what you pay for one bar you can get a whole box of just down the street at King Soopers.

One comes through my neighborhood every day (maybe not on Sundays? not sure) but saying it "plays melody music" is a stretch. Makes off key noises usually recognizable as a well known Christmas carol would be accurate though.

That's interesting, I figured the bike thing was out completely though to be fair it seems more economical and profitable for them than driving a truck. One thing is for certain, ice cream trucks/bikes are not around every neighborhood like they used to be. I do recall one time when an ice cream truck driver was going about 40mph or so down my street, I could picture kids trying to run that thing down.

Last summer.

The smart driver races through the neighborhood blasting his music, then does a slow cruise. When he makes the slow cruise the kids are out and waiting for him. If he just does one slow pass he ends up waiting for them. Legend has it that the guy who first came up with this idea tripled his sales, but the guy I heard it from was just an ice cream truck driver so as anecdotal evidence goes it is probably not the best.

I never saw them growing up because they weren't allowed in our area.

Now I see them all the time, always have to stop myself from getting those shitty character shaped treats.
