When will college football have playoffs?

My guess is hopefully within the next 4/5 years... The BCS is ruining college football, it's hard to take it seriously until playoffs happen.

Thoughts?

I'd support an 8 team playoff featuring the 6 "major" conference winners + 2 mid-major (or independent, whichever two teams are ranked higher). What I don't want to see is another system that prevents Boise St and Utah from contending.

its going to be a few years at least due to the current bowl game contracts.but what i have never understood is why don't they just incorporate the individual bowl games into a playoff system.

Never. The BCS makes too much money with the system like this. Its a sham but if the profits keep coming they will not change it. So we are stuck with no real national champion.mattykovax

i doubt it will happen but i hope it does. The bowl system sucks.

I hope it comes soon so colleges like Boise State will actually have a chance at the Championship.
