When you get a new game do you play immediatly after you get it

My friend told me that he has had the game Gears of War for three weeks today and just played it yesterday(and he has been hyping the game a lot). I asked him why he hasn't played it and he said when he first got it home, he played one of his older games and started playing his DS and he forgot about it. He said that he feels like a idiot  for waisting all this time not playing it. Another friend of mine says that he has had God of War 2 for a few days and hasn't taken it out of the plastic yet. I could understand if they were busy or if their consoles weren't working but this sounds kind of crazy that they would go this long without playing their new games.  

first i open it, look at it, drive home, play it, beat it, then read the manual.RPG-er

I usually rent my games and beat it then I buy the game and don't open it.

it just depends on what i have going on at the time.

I usually by the game on the way home I rip the plastic off, read the manual then when I get home I play it for a loooong timeiaasc
