Where do you get your taste from

I do not get my tastes from anyone. I am my own person.

Not sure why, but I have been fighting popular influence since I was kid.

Fashion: most of my clothes are casual but my friend introduced me to a ton of the latest stores and he had good style so he always recommended me some pretty nice stuff.

Music: I gotta thank my brother for introducing me to good hip-hop music. me being the curious one when I was younger I always went through his music collections and that's when I started listening to People Under the Stairs, Mos Def, Jurassic 5.

Food: my stepdad really helped me expand my tastes when I was younger. I never used to eat any type of seafood but somehow he convinced me to try it and after that I was eating all the seafood I could get :P also my friends who took me to my first thai restaurant and been lovin' it ever since

Fashion: I really like athletic clothes. I never wear shorts unless it's around the house. I always have some sort of training pants and an athletic t-shirt.

Music: I like classic rock, but the music I most appreciate is J-pop/rock. Not the overly bubbly crap, I'm just talking about normal Japanese music (if that's possible:P). I just like the way it sounds. And this may sound weird, but I like the way they sing songs even if I don't understand the lyrics most of the time.

Food: I come from an Italian family, so I like Italian food. I also really like dishes like curry and chili.

Games: FFX is where I got my like for gaming from. RPGs are now my favorite genre, and it was the first game that I truly felt like it was an experience rather than just a casual, fun game.

Fashion: Metal and skate culture

Food: My tongue?

Music: Buddy listened to metal, now I do too.

Video games: Dad was into Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, now so am I.

Fashion: I wear whatever I feel like wearing...depending on the weather and how I feel. My style is preppy one day, tomboyish the next. It's pretty random.

Food: I eat whatever I want to eat. Nothing holds me back except for my own hunger and taste buds.

Music: I get my songs from the radio or my friends. I usually like what I hear. :)

Games: All thanks to my big brother and his friends.

Fashion: was my parents of course when I was a little kid. Now it's all me

Music: When I was small I listened to the radio and whatever music my parents owned (yes there was good stuff) then eventually I turned to MTV (it's good in Europe, MTV2 mostly) certain online sites, friends, Gamespot (thanks guys)

Videogames: I just kind of got whatever looked fun when I was small and all of my friends would kind of feed off each other. It wa beautiful to find a gem when we had no idea about the games quality. Eventually I started rerading Nintendo Power and then moved on to EGM (RIP). Now I use many online sites.

Fashion: Don't know, I don't follow any real fashion trend, although I occasionally wear band shirts, but that's about as trend following as I get.

Tastes: Family I guess, I eat a lot of European foods because my mum is from England as well as the typical Aussie foods because that's where I live, I also got some of my tastes from my friends, such as chinese.

Music: Started listening to metal through my brothers, but a lot of that was crappy nu metal bands, I then started discovering new bands through forums like this and Last.fm and now listen to a large amount of Prog and Death metal.

Video Games: Started playing when I was very young, a lot of old school side scroller games, then stopped as I got older, then started again as a from as escapism during a rough patch in my life, now they're a genuine hobby, mainly play RPG's, action adventure and the odd FPS.

Oh I think is an interesting topic if people play it as intended.

Fashion: Alternative style, but carefully collaborated. Focus on a two to three color sceme. I developed my look so it doesn't come across too teenagerish, making it more effective. People know it's what I am and not me trying to be something. If that made any sense, anyway; I guess the reason i'm like this is because I become the type of people I want to attract. I mean, my girlfriend has a nose ring, piercings in naughty places, tattoos and pink hair, I don't think I would of attracted that girl if I dressed like Jarvis Cocker (no disrespect to Jarvis). I think it sparked off when I was shopping for snowboarding gear in France when I was 15. I was looking at those people with skin tight, bright blue ski pants and an luminous green beanie, then I saw a bunch of punks on the half pipe. I fell in love with the fashion.

Music: I think my older brother influenced my music taste a fair amount. I still like the stuff he likes, but i've branched off my own path over the years. The current bands I listen to is one thing I discovered myself, but the nature of the songs (always something downbeat, emo or gothy) probably sprouted from the bands my brother introduced me to.

Examples:

• The Cooper Temple Clause. (the guy in that video is "THIS IS SPARTA!" man).
• The Birthday Massacre. (I thought these guys were little known, but this forum has many fans)
• Taking Back Sunday. (As emo as it gets).

Video Games: Grew up with them since the Spectrum 48k. I used to play Trap Door and Nexus and all kinds of stuff. Then the Commodore 64 with Rolling Thunder and that samurai rabbit game. Then the Amiga 500 with Hired Guns and too many games to mention (i loved that computer). Then moved onto PC since then. Final Fantasy 7 brought me to the console market, been loving it since. It was the first Japanese game I played also. My older brother got me into it originally.

Hmm I would be lieing if i said no one ever influenced me for certain things...

Fashion-I have no idea, i just wear whatever looks nice

Music- Seeing Pearl Jam unplugged concert changed my entire life forever....

Food-I have a very open pallet but I would say my mother opened my mind up when it comes to food.

Fashion: I dunno, I just always wore the shirt and shorts kind of thing. Mostly T-shirts with weird stuff on them. I rarely ever wear pants, I find them uncomfortable. And I always wear Nike shoes, pref. all white or majority white.

Food: I've always been hooked on pizza, one thing I'll never stop eating. My diet is pretty unhealthy yeah, but I plan on cutting down alot of crap that ain't good for me, already started with soda which I'm still gettting headaches from the lack of caffeine. My doctors always told me I was on the heavy side, but their charts are way off imo. I'm just a big guy all around.

Music: As a kid growing up in an area surrounded by hip-hop/rap, I naturally listened to it. I was growing tired of music in general, I never heard more than 5 rock songs. Then I found Guitar Hero 2, was like ok this is gay...kinda fun...fun...omg rock/metal is the best thing to ever happen. I find bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, a few Megadeth songs, ect. I never listened to Metallica *Honest opinion, they suck, real bad.* or death metal and I still don't. I hear Jimi Hendrix, I finally want a real guitar. Start learning for like a month and never picked it up again. Then during the last summer, just lying down in bed listening to the 80's hair band station on my Dish's SIRIUS network, and I discover the best f-ing song ever, Hall of the Mountain King by Savatage. I'm instantly hooked after hearing the song like 20 times over. Do my research on the band, and decide damnit this guitarist is awesome, I so wanna play just like him *Criss Oliva.* So yeah. My main bands now, as the only music I have since I deleted all my other stuff, Savatage, Megadeth, Overkill, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Chris Caffery. I hate all rap/hip-hop/R&B with a passion. There are some Pop songs I can listen to, but I won't discuss those.

Video Games: My sister taught me how to play Super Mario World when I was 2 on the SNES. I'm still hooked on games, but not nearly as much as I was about 2-3 years ago when I would stay up even on school nights to play CS:S, BF2, and WoW and still go to school only to fall asleep. I still pulled a 3.0 in my 7th grade year and about 2.6ish~ 8th grade.

music: mix of my dad and friends. my dad introduced me to all my oldies stuff like elton john, billy joel, meat loaf, etc. my friends introduced me to all my metalcore bands like acacia strain, august burns red, parkway drive, etc.

clothing: i used to dress skaterish, but i just decided to clean up and start dressing really nicely. I shop at express, metro, etc.

games: just me, I'm an rpg fanatic

Oh my crap from all over the place. Usually it's just one small thing + who I am and tons of searching that eventually makes up what I like. Example, it's this crazy ass song that eventually lead me to the epicness that is this song which made me search high and low for a kick ass game called Touhou.:) (note the word "normal" at the top of that vid, it gets much harder.) Now every electronic device I have has a Touhou background / theme. (unless it doesn't let me change that. >.> ) I even have Remilia in my sig right now.:o I don't even know why I love it so much, I just do.:) And it all came from one dumb but catchy youtube video. Would you ever think that a video like that could change someone so much?:P

As for what I wear and what I listen to, I start out by seeing what kinds of stuff artists that I like are into, then I'll branch out from there accoring to what I like.

When it comes to food, just whatever taste good I guess.

• Fashion: Mostly my Dad, my friends and other people I would see around. I'm a band shirt and jeans type of guy.
• Food: Family. I'm mostly Italian and I grew up in an Italian household. Enough said.
• Music: My parents are both into Classic Rock, which I was basically raised on. I began to delve into Metal and it's subgenres due to friends.

Clothing= I don't really care what I wear. A hoodie and jeans is fine with me.

Music = I blame my sister :x

Video Games = I guess my brother. But I play more than he does now.

Fashion: I always wore cheap clothes with stupid sayings on them. Then I started getting into metal and bought a bunch of band shirts. After I branched into other genres of music, my fashion did the same, and I started wearing stuff that just had designs on them. I shop online or at Zumiez for most of my clothes.

Food: I don't really know how to describe my taste in food. Mainly when my family eats we have your "standard" meals that are easy to make, like grilled chicken, etc.

Music: I was into pop-punk when I was in middle school - before that I wasn't into much at all, and then when I got to high school I started listening to metal because all my friends listened to it. I kept getting deeper (from alt/nu metal, to melo death, and then finally into brutal death and grindcore), and when I past the death metal stage I started listening to hip-hop and within a year I branched out into all kinds of music, which is where I'm at now. I still listen to death metal, but I also listen to electronic music, hip-hop, punk, gangster-folk, progressive, etc. I listen to pretty much everything that "sounds good."

Video Games: I started playing when I was around 5 because my mom bought me and my brother a Playstation. I started on PC playing CS and C&C: Red Alert 2 because my friends played those, but like my music taste, I play practically all game types. My favorite would probably be turn-based strategies and FPS.
