Rurouni Kenshin is my favorite, but haven't seen it on TV for a long time. Supposedly there is a new Rurouni Kenshin anime project in production, but I doubt it will be as good as the original.

Oh I would say Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Monster, Serial Experiments:Lain, or Giant Robo are all anime series that I really enjoyed the story.

There is no such a thing as a single anime with best story, because its all about the genre and all. For me, Wlecome to the NHK, Mouso Dairin, Rahxephon, NGE, Pale Cocoon, Eve no Jikan were all terrific.

lol thats better. I liked it up to the lame AS ending so meh. You liked the Welcome the NHK anime but its pretty much broken compared to the manga.
