bob dylan has the best lyrics out of any musician ever. By no way does he have the best vocal talent, probably one of the worst. But his songs have meaning, and good lyrics, which is what this thread is about. Pink Floyd also has some nice lyrics.

Assemblage 23, VNV nation, Pride and Fall, Angels and Agony, and Negative Format all have some of the best lyrics. they focus on concepts of reality and the true aspects of love. which i find much more motivating than songs about loving someone forever and about how much you hate the government.

CANNIBAL CORPSE!!!!!!!!! their lyrics are like watching a horror movie, so graphic, so intense, so good eg "Dangling above a vat of putrid muck
A rancid stench of foul decay never encountered before
Screaming in horror for I now remember my fate
I will be Submerged In Boiling Flesh
This cauldron will soon take my life"pretty good huh guys

But I can pretend
The sun is gone
But I have a light
The day is done
But Im having fun
I think Im dumb
Or maybe just happy

Cradle of Filth:

Two thousand fattened years like maniacs
Have despoiled our common grave
Now what necrophagous Second Coming backs

Prowls the clouds, dead eyed

I'm going to say Tool.

You may not be able to understand half the songs but if you read the lyrics you can find some songs with deep meanings, double meanings, and stories.

Well actually there is a meaning behind their songs, unlike Nirvana's 'grunge' music. Nirvana completely lacks talent, it's just popular to like crappy bands.

the song I listed is 'from the cradle to enslave' and that's only the beginning. The song is about impending armageddon because of humanity's relentless abuse of the Earth for over 2 milleniums. What's nirvana's 'dumb' about? lol...

thats my problem with The Cure, the lyrics there always some love song, don't get me wrong I like them, but some more variety would be nice.
