Get what's called a BONE SHAKER tuner or a BONE. It hooks on your guitar and goes by vibration so you dont have to worry about other noises while you tune. Best tuner out there imo.

i prefer the planet waves tuners. i think they're $20, clip on to the headstock (so you don't have to plug in) and are well lit so its easy to see in the dark. they also accomodate guitars and basses and i've managed to tune accurate to drop A on my bariton acoustic without having any problems with the tuner detecting the note. it also handles overtones/harmonics pretty well so it almost never picks up on the wrong note.

I would suggest a Snark.

I bought one as a gift for someone and had a chance to try it out.

I was amazed at how well this little thing worked for only $10!

I bought one for myself to use on my acoustic/electric. Tried it out on my electric and it works just as well which surprised me since the electric has no hollow body that resonates. Clips on to the head, easy to see in low light conditions, and only $10!

I used to have a Korg one, was quite nifty... but really I think the ear is the best x.x, just listen to some music and tune to match it, it's not like most music is recorded woefully out of tune.

Use your ears.:P

Or you could buy a Korg or BOSS, just one that isn't too expensive.
