this is always a fun discussion. so the grandfathers of metal - sabbath, priest, maiden. then their is king diamond of mercyful fate.( sorry mercyful fate isnt a grandfather band, but it could be argued they, motorhead and venom were the fathers of thrash in an influential view)

5 singers whom all all legendary in their own right, and who's origianal bands are too. who has the best solo albums?

No contest, King Diamond. Conspiracy surpasses Melissa and Don't Break the Oath.

Ozzy I guess. My favorite musician that went solo would have to be Rob Zombie,Though white zombie was a lot better than the solo stuff.

I've only got experience with the first 4, and I'd say Ozzy.

I'm not big into any of them anymore, but I can still say that No More Tears is a very, very good album.

I think I'll have to go with Ozzy just barely, followed up closely by King Diamond.

do you not understand what im saying? alice cooper is the only band.. all these people i listed left their current band and formed their solo work as side projects. alice cooper's only band is alice cooper.. it isnt leaving a band for a solo career.. its his band thats named after him.

Not true. The band was its own entity and than he left the band and started solo. He took the name and the persona from the first band, not the other way around.

I think Yngwie Malmsteen did something similar, going from Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force to Yngwie Malmsteen.
