Poll Which of these 2015 movies was your favorite? (50 votes)

Bridge of Spies 2%
Creed 6%
Ex Machina 14%
The Gift 0%
It Follows 2%
Jurassic World 10%
Kingsman: The Secret Service 4%
Mad Max: Fury Road 34%
The Martian 12%
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation 2%
Sicario 0%
Spotlight 0%
Straight Outta Compton 6%
The Walk 2%
OTHER (mention another you like better than these)) 6%

This has been a banner year for all kinds of movies, sequels, all genres of fiction and non-fiction. I didn't put any animated or comedies here, but which did you like best from this group. I didn't even need to include Marvel movies (which I liked as well)!

Anyways vote away!

My vote went to Ex machina, I think that it blended the thriller, horror, and sci-fi genres better than most movies since Blade Runner or perhaps the early Terminator movies. Those are my favorite kinds of movies.

It should be noted that I haven't seen Creed, It Follows, Jurassic world, MI, Sicario, Spotlight, and Straight Outta Compton. So I've seen 7 of them, and missed 7...so far. I'll see Spotlight tommorow.

Apologies to animated and comedy fans, I do know Inside Out and Spy were both good movies. Just too many to include....

I've only seen a few of those so voted I for Mad Max. To be honest I'm not even that interested in seeing the ones I haven't seen with the exceptions of The Martian and Straight Outta Compton.

Probably The Assasin overall but from those choices, I'd say Creed, Sicario, or Spotlight. Those three are about equal in quality.

Mad Max: Fury Road and Ex Machina were the best of 2015 so far or from what I've seen.

If I had to pick, Mad Max.

So far, it probably has to be between Ex machina and Inside Out. And Mr. Holmes gets an honorable mention.

Straight Outta Compton. I was already an NWA/Ice Cube/Dre guy so I enjoyed it, plus it was before my time so it was cool to see the group.

I thought Jurassic World was a let down, kind of bored me but it was a fun popcorn flick.

So far...

  1. Mad Max
  2. It Follows
  3. Ex Machina
  4. Sicario
  5. Bridge of Spies
  6. Spy

And surely Star Wars will go up on that list when the time comes. Probably forgetting something else but can't think of what yet. I also really wanna see Creed, Crimson Peak, Hunger Games.

Inside Out deserves to be acknowledged as one of the best films of the year. I think not only is it a fantastic animated film but it has an incredible amount to depth to it.

3% for The Martian ? Have you guys who voted seen it ? That has Academy, and awards period all over it. It was a great, and my favorite movie from the list. Spectre didn't even make the list, lol .. I would not have chosen it for my number 1 any how.

Mad Max, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, Jurassic World, were great.

How did " It Follows " make it to this list, lmao. That would be at the last of the worst movies i saw all year.

@LexLas:

It Follows was well-received, though I haven't seen it myself.

I personally thought "The Martian" was overrated, though a decent film. I don't think "Spectre" deserves to be on the list, not because it isn't good, but because there are so many consensus better movies. If I made a few more choices I probably would have included it.

Out of that list I have seen Creed, Jurassic World, Mad Max, Inside Out, Kingsman, and straight outta compton. I plan on watching ex machina this weekend. My vote far and away goes to Creed but I am a HUGE Rocky guy. It was Rocky 1 all over again. What follows is the synopsis of Rocky 1

Apollo Creed(World Champion) is scheduled to fight a contender. Contender gets injured. Apollo then wants to fight (Rocky) a lesser known fighter but with an angle for ratings. Rocky meets Adrian and falls in love. Rocky tries hard to please Mick(old grizzled trainer) during training while making mistakes. Rocky does run montage prior to being ready for fight with Creed. Rocky takes Creed to the brink but loses.

Substitute some names(not going to do that here lest I be accused of putting in spoilers) and you have Creed...but I still LOVED it.

I'm surprised that Ex Machina is in 2nd place, since I figure that not many people have seen it.

Inside Out

Ex Machina

Mad Max

I completely forgot about Inside Out. That movie was surprisingly good.

I voted Straight Outta Compton, although off that list it is really a tie for me between that and Fury Road. If I wasn't going off that list I'd say Spectre. I really wanted to see Sicario but didn't get the chance. Will be grabbing it on blu-ray.....

The top three, of what I have seen, would definitely be Mad Max, Ex Machina, and Straight Outta Compton. If I was forced to pick one though, Mad Max for sure. One of the best action movies I've seen in a very long time.

I haven't seen a lot of movies this year, but from what I've seen so far, The Walk was my favourite. I really enjoyed the characterization, performances, build-up, and tense climax.

The only other ones I've seen from that list are Fury Road and Rogue Nation... And I didn't really enjoy either movie that much. I found them to be overrated. They just felt like typical summer blockbusters to me.

@Jag85:

Yeah "The Walk" had good reviews from both critics and the public, but I still wasn't sure how a 2 hour movie would hold up about a walk between the Two Towers. It was a very pleasant surprise, the movie had plenty of body to it, and I'm sure it was fairly accurate. The acting was rock solid.

The only drawback to me is, even in 3d looking towards the ground didn't seem completely real to me, so even with a fear of heights it didn't make me cringe as much as I thought it would.

Been a pretty lame year for movies, honestly.. 2016's Oscars won't have crap. I appreciated the complexity of Mad Max's production and Inside Out is one of Pixar's best releases in years. I have a strong feeling that my favorite film of the year will be The Revenant. Technically it opens limited in Christmas Day, so I'm considering it 2015. Inarritu is one of my favorite directors and DiCaprio looks mind-blowing. And that cinematography of course... Gonna be excellent.

@Serraph105:

Kingsman was released in theatres in 2015: January in UK, February in U.S.

Good enough call to 2015 for me. Great movie by the way!

Mad Max is pulling away, but it's nice to see 11 / 14 movies on the poll have a vote.

One that didn't get a vote yet, "The Gift", was a surprisingly good thriller. I really enjoyed "Spotlight" the other night, it's a really good movie for those who want to know how the Boston Globe unraveled the Catholic Priest fiasco. I have not seen the 3rd movie without a vote yet....that's Sicario.

@destinhpark:

I have to disagree with you there, I think its been a great year for movies, though I don't think there's a clear-cut favorite for Oscar best picture.

I listed 14 movies, all considered excellent and I didn't even include movies like Inside Out, Spy, Selma, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Spectre, and Hunger Games. Not to mention Star Wars is around the corner.

Jurassic World and The Martian are now tied for 3rd place.

This was a hard decision for myself. I had to cut it down to my final two choices which were Ex Machina and The Martian. I loved Ex Machina, it's absolutely gorgeous and Alex Garland just knocked it out of the park. Ex Machina is just a great watch that keeps you hooked in. Also, Oscar Isaac is an absolute beast. My other option was The Martian which was the most fun I've had in a movie theater in a while, I did have fun with Age Of Ultron, Jurassic World, Ant-Man, and etc. But nearly not as much as The Martian. Had to go with The Martian since it'll be a movie where I can watch over and over til the end of time, plus it will be known as the movie that broke Ridley Scott's bad luck streak.

So this is how it stands in OT to date:

1. Mad Max: Fury Road

2. Ex Machina

3. The Martian

I liked The Martian but I did think it was overrated. I needed a real antagonist in the movie to give it higher marks. Perhaps if I had seen it a 2nd time I would have appreciated it more.

More votes can still shake this up.
