I grew up reading complete Famous Five series :P
Same :P Did you read the English versions or were they translated? Dick was always my favourite character. Julian was a bit goody-goody and bossy. He was always like 'You girls stay here and make the sandwiches and Dick and I will go and find the treasure".[QUOTE="indzman"][QUOTE="MissLibrarian"]

He was always like 'You girls stay here and make the sandwiches and Dick and I will go and find the treasure".all english versions from UK's hodder paperback. Still got 21 complete set lol. My fav was Julian for his maturity and timmy well for being most brave , Dick was pretty cool , anne was simply adorable. Didn't fancy georgina or her father much for thier angry tempers or george rushing into face of danger ignoring warnings :PÂ
Heh, good ol times.
Loll George was always bloody getting into scraps and screwing things up for the others :P I didn't like her either. I think my favourite was Five Go On A Hike Together, sometimes they were really spooky haha, I should totally read through my set again.Â
Jolly good times!Â
Did you ever read her other books? The Wishing Chair and The Magic Faraway Tree were both series I learned to read by.Â
But my favourite of hers was The Secret Island. I always thought I get into adventures like they did when I was older but I never found any secret doors or hidden passages anywhere :P

Ayn Rand is an excellent author. The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are masterpieces. I'm not big on Objectivism but I'm inclined to agree that The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are great books through and through. Anthem is also a very good book.[QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="lostrib"]Ayn Rand is an excellent author. The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are masterpieces. I'm not big on Objectivism but I'm inclined to agree that The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are great books through and through. Anthem is also a very good book. Fountainhead is alright but Atlas Shrugged commits the cardinal sin of media: It's boring. Failing outright entertainment it should be thought provoking. Instead we get what we get. Also the characters are (and are intended to be) archetypes rather than realistic characters which I feel ultimately severely damages the message of the book (and lets face it the books main reason for being is to market that message). Atlas Shrugged is actually pretty much one of the very few books I've ever had to force myself to finish. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, I read quickly, but my god she really could have used an editor. But, hey, that's just my opinion. Though I will say there's a bit of a difference in my opinion between enjoying it and treating it as your new bible. Enjoy all you want but the whole devotion that it gets is...creepy.Award for least surprising answer
