Well, I just think you should have an open mind for all music, and except that they have different tastes. Not generalize a whole group of music like that. Especially since there are quite a few sub categories to "Metal". I am not trying to tell you what to do. What to like or hate. But It doesn't really matter what I say, eh, go on listening to your preppy boy rock all you want. (see, I can do it too)

Well I guess I think of it as boy rock, as you think of metal as crappy, eh? :| And some, think of it as a varied musical style that has fused traditional rock and funk with various elements of heavy metal, punk rock and psychedelic rock.

It might fall into different food groups, but each has it's own flavor! Mix some things together you get a great meal, others might turn out bland. You never know when you might be surprised. :)

who doesnt love them? well that seems like an invitation...
i dont like them. theres not much to their music beyond a catchy tune. if thats your thing, then go ahead and enjoy them because theres really nothing wrong with that. but that said, i generally look for a bit more substance.
