Yeah, same here. I felt they were good performances from the Fresh Prince, but they're not really my cup of tea.

Also I had this debate with my girlfriend: did he kill the dog? Because I thought he was just holding it down until it died, like the girl he was experimenting on before.

But he gave him the same drug he used on the girl beforehand, who died after seemingly getting better.

oh wow, yeah, i do believe you're correct. He must have given him the shot of the failed vaccine, knowing that it would kill the dog... that makes a lot ofsense now.

but yes, my eyes watered at both parts, the dog and the following mannequin scene. and then when he wastalking to the girl about how everyone died.. actually, now that i think about it, everything after the dog scene was pretty emotional...

but still, i found it more inspiring than depressing :)

---edit---

oops, "he must have given her the failed vaccine" is what i should have said ;)

I watched it yesterday and it upset me a LOT when he was searching for his dog, Sam (it's a she) who wandered right into a hive of those creatures. Damn, it was like I was there searching for my own dog. I was pretty nervous and alert on that scene.

He broke the dog's neck. They didn't show it, though. They only showed his shoulder snapping, suggesting that he had snapped the dog's neck.

That's what i thought all along, but looking back, this story seems more probable.

The dog bit was sad but the rest wasn't. That woman made me not care about humanity at all.

Pure genius, i think Will Smith is one of the best actors in mainstream Hollywood. I don't understand why people would call it cliche? I see your point on badly written it could of been better.

Nope, I didn't find it depressing. I quite enjoyed the movie, but was SERIOUSLY let down by the ending and the "alternate" ending is just as bad.

Will Smith was pretty good though, and looking fine!!!! :D (I am a girl BTW  )

You are such the critic... Sometimes I think you only get your rocks off slamming the more popular movies. Anyway...

Yeah, it was sad. Definately not a feel good movie.

I like alot of popular movies, I just thought that I am legend was pretty bad. It was good for the first 20 minutes or so, then the terrible monsters ruined it. The original I am legend film that tried to stick closer to the book is much better, mostly because it has vincent price who is more awesome than Will Smith will ever be. I am still waiting for a good adaptation of the book that keeps the book's incredible ending. The recent I am legend is not that adaptation.

Dude, good call. Why, oh why, did they use CG monsters instead of actors in make-up?!

Well I'm glad it didn't stick that close to the book. If I wanted to experience the book, I'd read the book. I just think a lot of people expected the wrong things from this movie instead of appreciating it for its own vision. Ah well..

If that's the case, then I guess I'm supposed to appreciate every turd of a movie that's ever made for its own vision.

I didn't even know it was based on a book when I originally saw it. It's just a legitimately bad movie. It had terrible CGI, little plot, an unsatisfying ending, and mediocre direction.

Don't get me wrong, I love several movie adaptations, and many that are quite different from their literary counterpart. In fact, I have not yet read I Am Legend. I was just disappointed with the movie. In my opinion, it was just not good.

Even if I didnt read the book I would still not like the movie. If it stuck close to the book including the ending it could have been a great movie, instead they decided to dumb it down for the masses. I can see why the author Richard Matheson kept his name off of all the I am legend adaptations, none of them approach the greatness of the novel.
