So, i'm just curious.. who here had had lasik? and how much did it cost you. I'm asking because as i'm writing this topic, I can't see the screen. I've been awake for half an hour and still can't see large text 4 feet from my face. I have a lazy right eye and my left is declining because it does so much work making up for the right! I just don't know if I could afford lasik.

I had it done. It was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. Totally life changing. My vision used to be so bad that I couldn't read the digital clock on the nightstand next to my bed. I now have 30/20 vision. It cost like $3k/eye because I had an award winning doctor at an actual hospital do it. DO NOT go to one of those cheap lasik labs. Get it done at your local hospital if you can because the doctors actually have to have credentials.

Heh, I wish I could afford it...I've practically had my glasses stapled to my head since I was 6.

If I could, I'd get it from a doctor who knows what they're doing, not some "cheap lasik now!" place.

Heh, just like me.

I've been wanting to get lasik done for years but there's no way in hell I could ever afford it.

A cousin of mine had it done and he described it as one of the worst things he'd ever done :S. He had it done at a clinic in cyprus (where he lives) and his description of it was quite bad. He also found out afterwards that there is a 10% chance that the optical nerve might disconnect from the eye which was quite shocking

You might want to check your insurance because mine payed for like half of mine. My friend in high school got it and his insurance covered all of his.

I think that's more dependant on the clinic in question. The percentage isn't that high in many other areas (otherwise...ouch).

Sounds like he went to a dump to have it done. Like I said, like any sergery you have to choose wisely.

Either his cousin doesn't know what the hell he's talking about or the doctor was talking just about him. There is a 0% chance of that happening at any other clinic.

You have to be wide awake during it. They give you some Vicodin pre-op to take the edge off but other than that the sergery is completely painless. No pain durring or after.

After the surgery can you just walk out into the sun and see fine? This is kinda interesting, did it feel weird knowing that some man/woman is digging around in your eye?

Naw you're sight is still pretty bluring but I was able too see much better the second I stood up from the operating table. The next day is when you really start getting the results. And they don't dig around in your eye. It's all done with lasers. The only weird part is when they clamp your eyeball inplace so you don't move them around.

That's still scary, I hate anything that touch my eyes.

I think my dad got it. It might have been something different though. From what I heard it helped though.

I actually came into the thread unsure about what it was to be "La sick" and to make a comment on it.
But I forget how to conjugate basic French D:

Nope. You'll get some serious blooming from the glow of bright lights at night for like the first month because youre eyes are healing but that goes away.

I have contacts, but I'm hoping to get lasik in the future when I have money for it.
