I am not being lazy, actually i been trying to learn it on the computers for days and days. Ill try that book out, thanks.
Sorry, but C# is way much better and easier . Learn C# By sam abolrous. Or Visual C# by john Sharp.
And if you still want C++ i suggest C++ For Dummies by Stephen Randy Davis . :)

You're better off not focusing on games for now, focus on the language itself then buy a book that focuses on games. The reason for this is that most books who try to teach c++ with a focus on games get really convoluted and confusing.[QUOTE="ct1257860"][QUOTE="masters89"][QUOTE="SimpJee"]just get a book man! Then i learn a couple with video games.
Okay so i have very good ideas on making a video game team on Gamespot using the Unions. But this is not about Unions. I was wondering if anyone has the time to help me learn and understand C++. It may seem silly to you but if you reply yes i will send you a good offer on PM. It really is a good offer and no this isnt the GodFather. I will explain how you can help me and how i can help you in returns.ct1257860
you should take a college course on it, really. thats what im doin homeslice
start out with something simple... first gotta learn libraries, #include gotta learn ur vars, ints, floats, arrays, so much before u can do u game... just get visual studios, go to and do the tuts, ill even teach u a lil game...

Games? LOL If you kept thinking that way you will stop learning Soon. I say keep focusing on the language and keep going. And NO my book doesn't revolve around any games matters.
Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/
It's a free download of the "Express Edition" of Microsoft Visual C++. You'll notice that you can also download a free "Game Creators GDK" to help with game development!
:D
It's also very easy to find websites that contain free C++ tutorials. Just try Googling something like "Learn C++ Online".
Here are three websites that offer free information:
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/
http://www.softlookup.com/tutorial/c++/index.asp
http://www.programmingtutorials.com/cplusplus.aspx
*pulls down TC's pants* Nerd!
hyperuser334132
i already got visual C++ express edition. Hm...i dont consider my self a nerd, i box, play basketball, baseball, i write lyrics and im in a group online, and im going to try to make the games that nerds like you play.
So my mom finally order me a book for C++. I wrote a list of the books i should learn in order.
1. Beginning C++ programming through game programming ( I know you said not to concentrate on games but the reviewers said it was too easy and for the absolute beginner.
2. C++ programming language : special edition ( then ill go a little more advanced and learn strictly on the language)
3. Game programming all in one, third edition ( more advanced and learning how to put together a game)
4. C++ primar plus (5th edition) Advanced math operations and advanced on the language)
5. Advanced C++ programming styles and idioms ( Wrapping upthe advanced part of the language)
6. Collision detection in interactive 3D enviorments
Two Questions
1. Any books you think i need or dont need? And will this wrap up the basics of the language ?
2. How does it all work? What exactly does the C++ program do, like all of it. How do you use a 3-d modeler and take characters and objects and put them in the code? Same for 3-d enviorments. Is Audio on a whole seperate program? How would you do animations and making cut scenes?
Not really two questions but ya catch my drift.
