alright then
I so want to if that makes any difference.Demon_EsquireYou should definitely learn. I actually had more fun when I first started than I do now. Probably because I was actually learning stuff when I first started, and now (I hate to say it), I just kind of stopped trying to learn new things... I should probably start back, I think it would make playing more enjoyable.

I'm currently learning from a lesson book(for bass) its really good. it starts you out slow, shows you a a few notes, a new technique, then puts those to use along with ones previously learned.

I taught myself. I basically learned how to play songs I liked through tablature and started to remember how to play all the chords. After getting into jazz music my chord library grew immensely. Once you learn basic minor and major chords it's a matter of figuring out patterns and progressions that way you can start writing your own music.

1 5 4 is the only chord progression I know :(.[QUOTE="Headbanger88"]You should definitely learn. I actually had more fun when I first started than I do now. 1 5 4 is the only chord progression I know :(.Well, it's also not a good thing to rely on common preogressions as it will take away from your creativity. I've found a lot of the time with songwriting it just sort of comes to you. Actually, a lot of songs that I write come to me as I'm just fooling around while Conan is on or something. I wrote my first song while I was waiting for maps to load in Counter-Strike.
Another thing I've noticed is once you come across a good idea it doesn't take that long for it to really start folding out. The problem is actually coming across that good idea which can take weeks, or maybe even months.
I got a Yamaha F310 acoustic a month ago. I'm learning simple chord progressions. I can play really easy stuff like Happy Birthday, Yankee Doodle, Twinkle Twinkle, intro to Place for My Head by Linkin Park, and Intro to Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. I'm going to try and learn Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. BTW, can you guys recommend some easy songs involving just chords for beginners?cheetah_TM
I'll find some stuff. How good are you with bar chords?

I know they play their stuff on electric and you have an acoustic, but their stuff is simple, so you shouldn't have a problem. They mostly play power chords anyways.

I think it would be beneficial to learn songs with bar chords in them, that way you would get better.[QUOTE="cheetah_TM"][QUOTE="Headbanger88"][QUOTE="cheetah_TM"]I got a Yamaha F310 acoustic a month ago. I think it would be beneficial to learn songs with bar chords in them, that way you would get better.I'm going to reccomend some songs:
Beatles-Nowhere Man
Beatles- A Day In The Life
John Lennon- Happy Xmas(War Is Over)
Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
David Bowie- Ziggy Stardust
John Lennon- Love
John Lennon- Imagine
Led Zeppelin- Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Seals And Crofts- Summer Breeze
You're good with going with most Beatles songs. I tried to pick songs that I like to play. If you're feeling up to it, try Blue Bossa. It's a jazz song with some complex chords but it's well worth it and people will be impressed if you can play some jazz.

First fingerpicking song I learned to play. I thought the changes were easy enough so that he would be able to catch on to the actual picking quickly. Plus, like you said, it's fun to play!
I play. I have a Washburn electric. It's not very good, but it was my first guitar. I don't use it anymore though; I use an Ibanez RG4EX1. It's pretty sweet. I also have a Takamine acoustic that I bought for $150 used, but it works well.needled24-7For an acoustic that 'works well' I would never pay $150. It must kick ass if you got it for that price used. I spent 80 on an acoustic new at Costco. It serves me well, but half the strings are nylon and half are metal, so it's kinda weird.
I play guitar. :)
I have a Mexican Fender Strat and a Vox AD15VT. I ordered a Jackson Stars RR-J1EK semi-custom about in March and it should come this month. I'm also currently saving up for a Marshall JCM800.
I also have a Fender Standard Jazz Bass and a 60 watt Fender Rumble amp.

i am learning as well, self taught. (well, i only look up tabs and try to play them.)
I have an electric guitar (begginers) which I got from ebay, so it's one of those generic stuff. Nonetheless I have fun learning.
although i wish i'd learn faster :(
P.S. and my amp is cheap too :( Yamaha
