Straight Edge to the XTREME! This is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen to get kids to not do drugs or have sex.

It's advertised like it's some totally hardcore x-treme thing to do. Wearing X's on your hands doesn't make you look cool it just makes you look like a douche. Honestly, nobody really cares that you're straight edge and the fact that you have to let everyone know really just pisses people off. It's great that you don't do drugs or sleep with anybody, really it is. I just don't care.

edit: I also can't stand how straight edgers on the internet have to put an x before and after their name. Just another thing to piss me off because again nobody really cares that you're straight edge.

I appreciate the desire to want to avoid the influence of drugs/alcohol, but can you really justify taking such a pseudo-institutional approach?! I mean, the "institutional" approach is bad enough, but whatever happened to free thought?! i.e. I choose to transcend the crap I am surrounded by, via intelligence and self-respect...

Yeah, I realized that before, but what I'm suggesting is that the whole "straight edge" identity thing is most likely not the best way to go. It implies an adherence to an ideology that you relate to in terms of staying chemical-free, but trust me, that is where the affiliation should end. Apply within.
