Just because you like something, or are obsessed with it even, that doesn't mean that it is your "God".

I'll give you an example then. I am a Christian but in the last relationship I was in I pretty much put the girl before God. In doing so, I commited idolatry by worshiping and serving something other than the one and true God. She basically became my god. We are no longer in a relationship in part because of my obsession (I wasn't a stalker or anything like that btw, I just put God on hold so the relationship could progress rather than the other way around). It seems we have different views on the matter but I just wanted you to at least understand where I was coming from.

Cool you named one example. But you said that anything can be a God. That would include even objects that are lifeless. Are you suggesting a dead tree trunk could be a god, or a pebble could be a god?
I understand your example with the girl, but you can't just call anything your god if you like it. Is a god not defined as a creator of something or a ruler of something? Sure the object could rule you, but it certainly did not create you. I would be pretty depressed if I was made by a pebble :c

Your god is anything that rules your life. If a pebble rules your life then go seek help. :P For a high schooler it might be popularity, for a mother it might be her children, for another it might be their job, and another it might be video games. :o[QUOTE="Kuhu"][QUOTE="mindstorm"][QUOTE="Kuhu"]Everyone has a god of some sort whether it be God, you, possessions, or other people. I prefer dictator. What separates the terms god and dictator in this situation?

Is there any ideal you live by, or object that inspires you?
I could say that my God is knowledge, or maybe curiosity. I truly believe that we, and everyone here, are here for no reason whatsoever, and our existence is nothing more than a collection of carbon-compounds that can transmit electrical signals. Despite that firm belief, I enjoy life to the fullest, knowing that along the way, certain things came about that are interpreted by the collective impulses that make up my consciousness as pleasurable. Among those are the quest for knowledge, and so that is my god. That is what makes me happy, despite my firm belief that there is nothing worth believing in.

If someone points a gun to my face and threatens to shoot me, I'll tell them to shoot. If someone locks me away, I'll tell them to let me rot. I really don't care if I die or not. The inverse could be said too then I do not care if I live or not.

I'd likely have to know you better to know what it would be then. I can't really imagine someone to not have a god of their life... even if it be a simple desire they are or are not getting. who says he can't believe jesus to be god? :|If Jesus was God, and Jesus died, then that means God died.
God can't ascend to heaven, in fact he can't really have a physical body.
They call Jesus the Son of God for a reason. He was endowed with God power at birth. If Jesus WAS God, then he wouldn't die. Period.
