The Lion King is great. Awesome classic. Tons of people love it. But what about it's sequels, Lion King 2: Simba's Pride and Lion King 1½?

I just recently bought them off Amazon to relive nostalgia. Haven't seen them in years. The only thing I remember about them was that I loved the hell out of them. Now? Not too sure, I'll have to wait 'till they come in. After seeing one of the songs from LK2, it seems like it's gonna be pretty cool. Of course, you can never be too sure... they are direct-to-video, after all.

So, what does OT think of them?

The sequels never were released theatrically; they were all straight to video...hence, the surprise of some.

I imagine they'd have to be pretty horrible for Disney of all companies to not throw it up on the big screen. :P

There was a time where Disney was pumping out DTV sequels on a pretty frequent basis--Alladdin, Mulan, Tarzan, Cinderella...hell, even Bambi. It wasn't until a few years ago that the studio finally put the kibosh on the practice.

It takes places during the first Lion King, but based around Timon and Pumbaa.

I've only heard rumblings of the Alladdin and Bambi sequels. I thought they were just the stuff of legend. At least they didn't ruin Peter Pan with a sequel...right?

The Bambi sequel was awful. I don't remember the Aladdin sequels being bad, but everyone seems to hate them though.

Oh, and yes, Peter Pan has a sequel.

I'm actually surprise at the amount of people that don't know about them as Disney's been pretty big about hitting the markets with direct to DVD kinda sequels for most of their theatrical films. I rarely watch them though and I haven't seen any of the Lion King ones as I didn't think much of The Lion King film itself.

I've never heard of it referred to as that. Maybe it is will be considered like Back to the Future: Part 2, where they visit the same events from a different perspective.

I actually never heard of Return to Neverland up until now when I googled it.

I thought 1 1/2 was a pretty hilarious and entertaining movie.

Now that I'm thinking about it, a ton of Disney movies have sequels that I don't remember/haven't seen.

I thought Lion King 1/2 was funny when I first saw it at 13.

Lion King 2 was alright. I thought it was stupid though that they basically discarded Simba's son they show at the end of LK1 and use his daughter as the main character of LK2 instead.

Lion King 2 was pretty good, but it had nothing on the first. The first is based on Hamlet and the second is based on Romeo and Juliet, so it makes sense that the first one is alot better.

I do happen to like The Lion king 2: Simba's Pride alot and my avatar is from that movie being Kiara which is one of my favorite characters as well:) didn't care for Lion King 1 1/2, and both movies are being released on Blu Ray sometime in 2012 not sure when, but I will buy both of them as soon as they come out.

The first one told the story of a young lion who had to overcome hardships, fear of facing the mistakes he made in the past; all the while being entertaining and accessible to people of all ages.

The second one was a silly love story. =\

1/2, was pretty much a parody of the first one. Don't really think it counts as part of a trilogy or anything.

No sir.DJ_Lae
