Now most of RPG games are action RPG. I miss the old fashion menus where you select the action not move the character around and do the attacking (in RPG games only) . My brother tells me that I still live in the past and I have to adapt the new RPG.

Belive it or not but I still like to play Final Fantasy 8 and 9 with all these classic 3D environment and old menus stile.

We can look upon a great sage for advice: "I think we agree, the past is over"-George Bush I am moved by his wisdom.

I like the classic combat method. It allowed for a lot more strategy in battle. I find real time fighting in Western RPG's tend to be more button mashing that strategic fighting. The Gambit System in FFXII was a nice change though.

I agree, I still love that kind of game. I don't see why you should still have to adapt - if you still like that style of combat, play it =D

Talking of FFIX, my boyfriend and I are planning a massive marathon of it tonight.... He's at the beginning of disc 3, hoping to finish the game. Should be fun =D

I was never a fan of the old style of fighting in RPG's. I didn't like the idea of just watching the action. Until you gained enough experience points you usually got creamed

Get with the times; games change and we as gamers have to adapt.

Player skill should have a bigger influence imo. Turn based is just about thinking, nothing else is needed. Buttonmashing is just about... buttonmashing, nothing else is needed. A blend would be appropiate ;o

If you mean turn based combat then definately. Hack and slash combat in RPG's tend to be stale repetative so it's much easier for me to chose not do it at all.

Change? Just because the POPULAR games are going in another direction doesnt mean every single RPG you see come out will be in the same direction. Does one direction = greater than another? No. I like the old style RPGS especialy Final Fantasy Tactics types. The new hack n slash rpgs are jsut too easy.. and the gambit system in FFXII is a joke. The game is a breaze. And as far as someone saying all older RPGS were purely EXPirence based before you could kill something.. again you're wrong.

I was never a fan of the turn based moves. I hate seeing my character get attacked with a high hitting spell and I'm helpless to do any motion to move or counter it.
