Thought I'd try something different, so many topics on religion, political issues, and asking for relationship advice, this or thats, etc etc. I haven't seen anything like this yet.

So yeah, who still lives at home with a parental/guardian unit? Who lives on their own? Offer up your thoughts.

I live on my own...but with three room mates. It's cool. The house is just right, in excellent condition and rent is really cheap. Bills aren't so bad either.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd live at home still but I just couldn't deal with the siblings, as well as I had to move two hours away for school.

What a loser.

I'm 16 right now so I'm still with my parents. I work a part time job but I use the $ to buy clothes and games. The money will go toward the rent when I move into a dorm in college though.

I did the same up until about April this year. I only go home every so often to visit, mostly holidays and important occassions.

Rent for the dorms? I never paid rent, it was just an upfront payment that was included in my tuition fees and that.

Well my bro told me you can either pay that way or pay a rent each month. At least thats how it works at the college I'm planning to attend which is San Diego University.

It is fun living on your own. You can do as you please in your own house, at least I can. The only downsides are the bills, keeping the house clean and just being responsible for the property.

I would have moved out already... if I could have afforded it... but the cost of living in Canada is extraordinarily high and a university student has a hard time paying tuition let alone all the burdens of "life."

I guess I'm a little bit glad that I'm not in debt up to my ears though.

I've heard the city is pretty crowded itself, so it's understandable property values would be high.

I live with my parents and i'm 19. I tried staying in a dorm once in Basketball camp and hated it (conditions are nasty and its hot as hell). Plus I took advice from my Bro, he said "Don't leave home until you know your ready I made that mistake by leaving at 18 and i'm still paying for it". Plus even if I did move out I still need to stay in the city (NYC) because of college and NYC is just too expensive to live in by yourself unless you have decent job.

People who say people who live with their parents have no life or a loser don't know what they're talking about. A loser/idiot is someone who takes a crowded dirty dorm to their parents house where you have a big room, food, no rent (depending on how strict the parents are). Now I don't leech off my parents or anything, I do my own laundry and from time to time i'll go food shopping for them but theres nothing wrong with living at your parents house.

Totally understandable.

As for the loser comment, I just want to add a bit to that. A loser is someone who fails to do good by his/herself, they fail to take advantage of opportunities that could better their situations, etc etc. There is nothing wrong with living at home. Some people don't even have a home to go to.

Well i don't live in london propety is a bit cheaper where i am but house prices nowhere are reflective of what people earn. And new buyers are at records low.

Well if your paying rent and doing chores around the house then thats a different story.

Sorry about the miscommunication.

I made the loser comment because some kid (who's 16) that posted before me said someone who was 22 and lived with his parents was a loser.

I get free room and board, satellite, internet, sweet house out in the country, big bed, full A/V system in my room, all the food I want, and my parents even do my luandry(we just do colletive loads since its just me, swester, mum and dad) free garage to park the mustang and my toys in, plus its quiet(there are no jerks blasting their music, setting off fire alarms, roomates coming in your room at 3 am and expecting to play your xbox on YOUR TV while you are sleeping), So I would say living with your parents is pretty nice. I dont necessarly leech, I just stay there and more or less get food and laundry done.

I own my house, I am married, and have areally wellpaying job. I moved out from my parents place when I dropped out of university to join the national police force (RCMP - Canadian). I was 20 and that was 7 years ago. Hell, I don't even live within 100 miles of my parents now.
