Never mind that you might not like them or what they stand for - the question is who could best debate Obama once they secured the nomination. Discuss and please vote in the poll. My choice is Gingrich. I don't agree with everything he says, but he can hold his own in a debate.

Romney, he's got the most appeal among moderates and independents. Gingrich appeals more to traditional Republicans, I think independents would scoff at the idea of him as President. Huntsmann may have more moderate positions (as in more issues where he takes a moderate stance, not calling him more moderate overall) than Romney, but I think that when he gets his platform out on the national stage it wouldn't be so attractive to independents.

Huntsman, but he would still need a pretty fair amount of prep. Romney might be able to, but I think he would have a hard time going toe-to-toe as an opposing viewpoint for some issues. Gingrich can become too hot-headed and condescending, even in a civil debate. Bachmann, lol no. Perry is just one step above her, teetering on insignificance.

How do you have Bachman and Perry but not Paul? TC is worse than The Donald.

No respect! No Respect! Where's Ron Paul. Either him or Huntsman would do the best. Perry and Bachmann would get destroyed because of their extreme pandering. Romney flip-flopped too much. Gingrich is ok I guess, but I think alot of his lobbying and personal activities would be a distraction.

All the poll choices were used up. Besides, Paul is a non-starter. He's too radical, and he'd lose in the general.

Paul is in second place in a lot of polls. Where is Bachman leading or even placing?

I hear ya with the limited poll choices though.

Huntsman, but he's probably not going to be running for 2012.

Gingrich or Romney, take your pick. I'd take Huntsman as a candidate over either (especially Gingrich), but in terms of debating capacity, he isn't as well-versed.

Yeah, I'd omit either of those two before Paul.

I believe you are correct when you say Gingrich, but I believe Romney has a better shot at winning the Republican nomination.

Huntsman since

  • You have literally no dirt on him politically
  • He knows Obama and gives him an huge advantage
  • Will not scare independents like Ron Paul will

I'm sure if he was on top of the polls they would dig up dirt on him.

Though certainly relevant at the polls, I dunno if those qualify as debating qualities. (save knowing Obama)

Gingrich is the only candidate who could give Romney a run for his money in the flip-flopping.

I know Kerry is in the other party, I'm just saying he wins...go to the JibJab website and watch "This Land". Funny as hell, you'll laugh hard.
