A movie based on a FPS is almost ALWAYS a bad idea.  (I would say the exception is Halo, but it's not gonna be made anytime soon.)

No. Hell no. Hell ****ing no. Hollywood would screw it up horrifically, probably rewrite things to make it into an anti-war film. Toss in a romance that doesn't belong. Rail against the military-industrial complex, blah blah blah.

I don't understand the idea of a bad movie ruining a game franchise.  How does it ruin it per chance?  Is the movie just so bad that you can't even stomach the idea of playing the games it was based on anymore?  What sense does that make?  Or is there some correlation to the quality of the last movie and the next game of the franchise that makes it inherently bad?  I don't think it's a good idea to let one medium's quality affect your preference of the other.

I still don't understand why the Doom movie wasn't accurate to the game, the game had something original, the movie had that same Hollywood crap

I think it's the idea of "If the movie's crappy, it'll translate to the game as well."

The whole history of turnong the Doom game to film was a long, sordid one.  It went through a few diffrent writers and directors, and a couple of studios as well.  Warner Bros. initially was going to produce the film with a PG-13 rating until they lost the option to make the film.  Universal recived the rights and ....well, you seen the film.

There are video games of both.

But the original subject matter were comic books, making the movies Comic Book Movies, not Game movies. It's like claiming Lord of the Rings is a game movie because there's games for it.

They were comics before games. The games were made during filming of the adaptations.

If it had a decent director (Cameron, or someone similar with experience), and a decent filming crew behind it. I think a quake movie could be pretty good.
