Trojans really weren't depicted to be that good at fighting. After all it took them ten years and a Wooden Horse to get inside a wall. And there best warrior got beat by Paris the wimp because he didn't have good enough shoes. Spartans faced millions of Persians and totally whipped them without a flaw, even when the Immortals came into it they still fought amazingly. Take the Trojans invading Sparta the same way as the Persians and you'll see who'll come out the victor. Or even take the 300 Spartan them inside the walls at the Trojan campaign the result will be the same. Plus Leonidas could totally take Achilles.

Trojans would win. Troy is the entirety of Greece (including sparta) against Troy (trojans). Sparta alone would have gotten spanked by the trojans.

Spartans would win. Troy was a city-state on the Hellespont that relied on it's geographical prominence to establish it's control. Spartans would be better equipped and better trained.

Its in documented history (as is Jesus actually and more than the Bible, they proved a while ago a man named Jesus Christ was alive around that time, but wither or not he done what is claimed is another story) and i completely understand that there is a chance it never happened but a lot of historians seem to agree on it (the majority in fact) and like most things the majority win (i.e Presidential Elections,The existence of Gravity, etc etc) Arrows go up at different speeds true, but they all have the same gravitational pull on them pulling them down and as a result they come down at around the same speed so the raining arrows would pass in seconds. Assuming you got the majority of your being under you shield that has a 3 foot radius you 'd be fine.

the trojans would get destroyed. They were only good because of the Wall that they were shooting their arrows out of. The only one I would be concerned about dealing with was Hector.

Actually the guy with the not good enough shoes was Achilles, and he didnt fight for troy, he fought for the greeks.

Seriously...the arrows would not stop until something drastic happens. The Spartans wouldn't be able to move with 1000's of arrows falling on their heads. If this was possible...archers would be completely useless...

Finally you are starting to see the light. Archers against Spartans or any heavy armored troups who have mastered Turtle formations are extremely pointless. All you can do at most if add Arrow weight to the shield.

Trust me...it doesn't work as well in real life. Have you ever played Rome: Total War? By the time the Spartans would reach the archers..it'd be GG.

That bit in 300 where the guys like "Our Arrows will blot out the sun" and Stellios is like "W311 \/\/3 \/\/I11 FI6|-|+ In T3H $H4D3" actually happened so i assume that the Spartans at one point or another went up against a magnitude of arrows that we can't really imagine. And survived. Plus they had really big shields...

First...please tell me how would would know what really happened? After all these years..it's just like Jesus. And how long can they withstand 1000's of arrows?

Its in documented history (as is Jesus actually and more than the Bible, they proved a while ago a man named Jesus Christ was alive around that time, but wither or not he done what is claimed is another story) and i completely understand that there is a chance it never happened but a lot of historians seem to agree on it (the majority in fact) and like most things the majority win (i.e Presidential Elections,The existence of Gravity, etc etc) Arrows go up at different speeds true, but they all have the same gravitational pull on them pulling them down and as a result they come down at around the same speed so the raining arrows would pass in seconds. Assuming you got the majority of your being under you shield that has a 3 foot radius you 'd be fine.

That's not the point...let's say there are 5k archers..or even 1k. Now imagine each constantly shooting at footmen down below. Maybe even from different angles. How long can it go on for?

Until the Spartans move probably, or until the Archers run out of arrows. If they are right above them then its even better, just sit the shield on your back, or make your little Spartan cone thing and just wait.

Seriously...the arrows would not stop until something drastic happens. The Spartans wouldn't be able to move with 1000's of arrows falling on their heads. If this was possible...archers would be completely useless...

But archers were the pain defense of Trojans! It was their main force! "The best archers in all the land". They never lost until the trojan horse...for a good reason.

There that great, they were stupid enough to bring in a giant wooden horse that housed over 50 fully armed warriors and then went for an early night... They never lost the war, because nobody could get in the walls of troy. Even if there were no archers, they still wouldn't have got in. The archers just made sure whatever tried, died. If the Archers were that could the battle wouldn't have gone on 10 years and they wouldn't have lost.

acctually, he is completly correct. and looking back on the paragraph where you stated that the spartans would be able to do nothing while the arrows were firing. the same goes for the persians, afterall the persians would be getting shot by their own men if they attempted to charge while the arrows were being shot. that is why the Spartans were so sucsesfull because as w/e his name is, said that the numbers would count for nothing. and they didn't until they were flanked
